Hi, I'm Heidi!
For over 15 years now we have been vacationing in Maine. We first found Stonington when visiting our daughter's godmother who relocated there from northern Virginia in 2001. We fell in love with the slow pace of life on Deer Isle and have returned almost every year since. It is truly a place where life slows down. In fact in many areas of town, cell phone service does not work. The only place for a WiFi connection is in front of the town library (don't worry we are connected at our house). We like to spend our days gazing out at the harbor and watching the lobster boats and sailboats and occassionally tall ships sail by, going to sand beach to pick up shells or simply picnic and relax; hiking the many trails on the island; taking the mailboat over to Isle au Haut for the day; kayaking; going to Blue Hill or even Acadia National Park for the day, the list goes on and on but relaxation is key for us! A few years ago, land became available and we decided to build a home so that our children can enjoy the same relaxed family vacations in the years to come. The Isabel Rose House is named for our 14 year old daughter who enjoys running down the hill in the morning to get a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin from the Harbor Cafe or an ice cream cone (mint chocolate chip) in the afternoon. She loves falling asleep to the sound of the fog horn in Penobscot Bay.
We have decorated our home with nautical antiques acquired from my husband's military service (USMC) and having rented for years, have made sure that all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay are available. We hope that you will make many special memories in our Stonington retreat and will return every year. All the Best The Anderson Family
