“If I Could Build One - This is It!”
August 28, 2014
We arrived at the1890 Caroline House on a wet Friday. After we alerted the staff at the sister property the Richard Johnston Inn of our arrival, we were taken in to the absolutely beautifully restored 1890 era house. We stayed in the Luke Henry room which could not have been any cleaner, prettier and decorated better. We sneaked a peak at the other two rooms and they both were outstanding. The bed, although high, was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in a B&B (and we have been to MANY). It had a quite ceiling fan and the A/C in our room could be adjusted to our liking (it is August and humid) which is rare in an older home. The bathroom was huge with a spa tub and comfy black robes. There was a nice size closet and lot of chest of drawer for our stuff. The separate shower had great water pressure and lots of hot water. The location is perfect if you are in town to visit its history. Walking distance to the Visitor’s Center is a minute or two and there are restaurants and bars everywhere within a couple of minutes walk. We would have liked to have our breakfast in the lovely 1890 Caroline House but at this time they are serving at the Richard Johnston Inn (sister property) and it is just up the street. The breakfast was tremendous! You could pick what you wanted off the chalkboard menu and they made it to order! Not usual for a B&B – which we loved. The best compliment I can give is: If I could build a B&B in a great location – it would be this one!
