Hi, we're Lydia and Dave!
Dave and I (Lydia) met in 2002, married in 2007 and moved from Tallahassee to Saint George Island after we retired from the Leon County School system. We love to re-paint and decorate but it's nothing fancy. Kind of funky and fun, easy to live with. We lived on the Island about 3 years and absoutely loved it. We volunteered at the Library and joined the Lighthouse Assn. We got to know the island from one end to the other with walks on the beach (where there are numerous sea turtle nests), rides in our trusty golf cart and joining in the various festivals and events that are always happening somewhere on the Forgotten Coast. The island also has a State Park and that is a whole day of fun. We love good food and nice restaurants and there are lots of choices in the area. We especially love picking up fresh fish and cooking on our grill while enjoying the sights and sunsets. We like touring little museums and old churches and homes. Apalachicola, Florida, is a small fishing village across the bridges and we've spent many days just shopping and strolling over there. Our favorite things are the North Florida Seafood Festival in early November and the Antique Car and Wooden Boat Show.
When our grandson turned 3 years old we decided we were missing too much and moved back to Tallahassee for a few years. We are only 1.5 hours from the island so have enjoyed going back and forth whenever we can. But, we just hate that the house is empty so much.
We own another place on Campobello Island in New Brunswick Canada and have had amazing success renting it ourselves. There is a short 10 week Summer rental period up there and we have return visitors every year now. Our feelings are that we can have the same amazing results with our home on Saint George Island and hope you will take a look at our lisitng and come for a visit.
