No frills, clean comfortable, central location

“ Very Good ”
May 9, 2011
7 of us (all women) stayed 6 nights in late April. The apartment is no frills but spacious, clean, functional, quiet, safe, and well equiped. Having 2 bathrooms was very nice, you only get 1 towel for each person for your whole stay so take extra's if you want more. Easy walk to Times Square (about 1 1/2 small blocks). We walked all over Manhattan from the apartment, and also took the subway which is just up the street. We never took a cab anywhere. There is a big grocery store very close. Food Emporium, just ask anyone where it is, we found people very helpful. Ask for a customer card at the till so you get the cheaper prices. And since Times Square is so close, everything you need is there, restaurants, bars, shopping. Apartment does have internet, but it's not wireless. We felt very safe in the area. Walking home at 2 a.m. and some of us up and running to and around Central Park at 6 a.m. Always lots of people and police around. I did have one complaint. It was very cold the first 2 days when we arrived and the apartment was really cold. We couldnt figure out how to turn on the heater and I had a hard time reaching the caretaker, it was Easter weekend. He said the boiler was broken and there would be no heat. I asked if he could get us an electric heater, but he said no. Then later in the day, he phoned and said the boiler was fixed but it was set to come on only if the temperature got to 48 degrees, and we could not control it. Luckily it warmed up in NY and the apartment warmed up so we were ok with no heat, otherwise I dont know what would have happened, I know we would not have stayed with no heat if the weather hadnt changed. it was too cold in there.
