Martha's Vineyard Travel Resources

Martha’s Vineyard is an island community located off the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and is largely a summering location. The population in the summer months is typically about six times greater than the year-round population.  It’s an island of rolling dunes and utter beauty – it’s no wonder the current Presidential Administration has chosen Martha’s Vineyard to be their venue for summer vacations.

Martha’s Vineyard, or commonly referred to as just, ‘The Vineyard,’ is comprised of six towns – Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and West Tisbury. If you’re planning to travel to the island during the summer like most, the beaches will likely be the focal point of your trip. The Vineyard has seven major beaches; they are, South Beach, State Beach, Aquinnah Beach, Lucy Vincent Beach, Oak Bluffs State Beach, Long Point Wildlife Refuge and Joseph Sylvia State Beach. South Beach is probably the best beach if you’re looking to do some surfing, and State Beach and Oak Bluffs State Beach are the best for families due to their calm surf and soft sand. Just don’t plan on going to Lucy Vincent Beach since it’s reserved just for the locals in the summer months.

There’s no shortage of activities to engage in while on the island. Bike riding, horseback riding and kite flying are all super popular, along with fishing and golfing. The Vineyard’s art galleries are also a popular draw.

Martha’s Vineyard is a beautiful place, and a great destination for family vacations. Use the travel resources below to plan your trip to the Vineyard today!
