Tybee Island Travel Resources

Tybee Island is located just off the Georgian coast, and is a remarkably peaceful and relaxing vacation destination.  There are tons to do in nearby historic Savannah, GA, but on Tybee Island the primary activity is definitely R&R!

When you’re not spending time building sandcastles and catching rays at the Tybee Island beaches, there are a few sites that you’ll definitely want to catch.

The lighthouse fan club is larger than most people realize, and Tybee Island is home to one of their most prized possessions. The Tybee Lighthouse and Museum is a fantastic way to spend some unfilled afternoon time. It’s over 154 ft. tall, and an easy climb to the top will provide you with a fantastic view of the entire Island. It’s no surprise that the Tybee Island Lighthouse is the most photographed landmark on the entire island.

If you have children with you, there are three popular and fantastic activities that should definitely make your agenda – bike tour, dolphin tour and an ecology trip. The bike tour is the absolute best way to get an up close and personal perspective of the island, and there are beautiful trails directly on the waterline. Who doesn’t like dolphins? There are some excellent dolphin tours that let you see the cute bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitats. Make the trip to Tybee an educational one, and sign up for an Ecology Trip. Dr. Joe Richardson is known for offering super cool two hour beach trips that provide a scientific examination of the beach.

Tybee Island is a majestic place where even the newest tourist will feel at home. The only thing better than the people of Tybee are the sunrises and sunsets of Tybee! So use the Travel Resources below, and plan your trip to Tybee today!
