Sun Jul 17		Cancun Trip Report	Hi Karen, I am slammed today trying to catch up, but will tell you we absolutely loved Cancun and your resort. I will give you more details later this week, but for the most part, it was a very enjoyable and much needed vacation. They put us in Room #1402, approx 3rd floor, end unit on right side with two views facing the Carribean Sea (east and south views). Very nice room, spacious, perfect. Member's bar was great and we certainly got our money's worth there, taking your advice to stock up during the day for evening happy hour in the room. Weather was very good. First day (Sat) was great. Sun afternoon and all day Monday we had periods of strong rain/wind from Tropical Storm Cindy. Used those days to ride city bus, go to Walmart, and shop at mall across the street. Tues-Sat were perfect, mostly sunny with a few intermittent clouds. Nice breeze. Did the Jungle Tour (small motor boats) and trip to Xel-Ha (very nice). Went to La Isla shopping mall one evening after dinner. The beach was so beautiful. We pulled the chairs all the way to the left side, facing the sea, actually in front of the adjacent empty residential building to the north. It was like having our own semi-private beach. I actually read a whole book (first one in 10 years). Sand and water was incredible. Ate 3 meals on the premises. Lunch, from the outdoor beachside cafe, very nice. Breakfast at the buffet, nice, lots of food. Oh yeah, went to the gym twice at Avalon, nice. The people at Avalon were very friendly and accommodating to us. We were very gracious guests, tipping everyone that provided good service (bar keeper, maids, concierge, taxi drivers, shuttle van drivers, etc). Your advice to take $50 one dollar bills came in very handy. It was definitely one of our best vacations ever. Thanks so much for hooking us up with one of your bonus weeks. We thought the location (north end of Hotel Zone, near 2 malls, etc) was ideal. We would definitely go back. Take care, will talk more later.
