Fri May 18 Special place, but construction next door. We recently (2007) stayed at La Casa Palapa and considered it an absolutely wonderful, special house in a great spot. The three bedrooms each have a lot of privacy, plus it has a spectacular view. Plus San Pancho is a very nice town with some great restaurants, and the beach is beautiful, and there's good hiking nearby. But there is a house being built right next door, quite close, between La Casa Palapa and the beach. The LCP owner did not tell us about this beforehand, which we did not like, but he was kind enough to offer a partial refund after we complained about not being informed. If construction noise doesn't bother you much, you might nevertheless want to stay there, because the house and its location on a hill near town are so special. But be aware that the construction goes from at least 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sometimes the noise was not bad, just some chipping away at stones--and the construction guys were nice enough to turn down their loud radio when we asked. But the new house is already starting to block the view, and may do so to a greater extent after it's finished. It would be good if the owner advised people about this beforehand.
