Reviews for this vacation home rental in Acadia, Maine
Nicole Arnold
Toronto, ON, Canada
Fantastic vacation!
July 27, 2012
We had a great trip to Acadia. We travelled from Toronto, Canada. The house worked very well for us. There was enough room for the five of us and it afforded us the opportunity to prepare many of our own meals. The owners are great communicators and provided a lot of helpful information, both before we travelled and while we were in Maine. The house is about a half hour drive from Bar Harbor and about 15 minutes away from the Echo Lake entrance to Acadia Park. We didn't try the restaurants right in Southwest Harbor, but did use the bike rental store, which had better prices and great service.
Owner's reply:
Thanks Nicole for your kind words. Acadia is beautiful with lots to do for all and we want all our guests to have a fantastic time. We tried hard to provide you with not only a comfortable, well stocked home away from home, but also information on everything so that you could make the most of your vacation while you were there. Glad to hear you had a wonderful time. Please come back soon.

Spacious, clean house was comfortable and provided everything we needed. A bit far away from destinations that we were interested in - east coast of Acadia National Park - about half hour drive to welcome center point. We did a lot of things, including fishing (we were quite successful at Eagle lake, Echo lake, Long pond and Lower Hadlock Pond), visiting oceanarium, nature explorations (walking some trails and hiking Beech, Gorham and Champlain mountains), enjoying the ocean scenery along the Park Loop road (Ocean path was very entertaining as well as Sandy beach), collecting the mussels at the Pretty Marsh and grilling them right there in the picnic area, having dinner with popovers at Jordan's house, playing badminton in the yard. Oceanarium is really great - a must see for exquisite children 6-10 years old. Not sure what wether is typically like in June, this year was very rainy so were told that we missed a lot of scenery because of fog. July-August might be a better time to go.
Owner Supplied Testimonials

A few friends and I stayed in this house during the first week in July, and we loved it! The Simon's were so thorough and accommodating in the days before our trip -- they provided a plethora of tips and information for our stay, on topics from dining, hiking, biking, fishing -- you name it! Nothing was left unaddressed. Throughout our stay, we found the house very comfortable and clean -- it really felt like home. The kitchen was impressively well stocked with everything you might need for cooking, grilling, baking, etc. We will definitely try to stay here the next time we visit Southwest Harbor.-New York, NY
We recently spent a week in Robyn and Jim's lovely Hillcrest Cottage in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Their home is situated on a secluded, peaceful property. All the linens, towels, dishes, pots and pans that you could possibly need are provided. There is even a lobster pot for those adventurous enough to cook their own. Don't let the unfinished second floor scare you away. There were six of us, and we had PLENTY of room to spread out and relax!
Mount Desert Island is the home to Acadia National Park, a nature wonderland. Everywhere you look is a 'Kodack moment'! There is SO much to do - hiking biking and swimming. And, after a day of satisfying exercise, you can relax at night by strolling in Bar Harbor, eating a delicious homemade ice cream cone and looking at all of the interesting shops.
A trip to Mount Desert Island is a must for everyone, and what better place to stay than Hillcrest Cottage!- Upper Darby, PA

What a beautiful and private Maine Island Getaway. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in providing so many pleasant details; night lights, flashlights, menus, kitchen tools, island info, etc... We love the rock-bordered garden you have created in the front. -Williamsport, PA
