The surrounding area of this charming bungalow is graced with cottages and mansions. Right down the street, on a lovely veranda of a stately residence, a movie was filmed in November 2006! Aiken has been found by Hollywood! The cottage is located just a short walk to the library and museum, downtown Aiken for shopping and dining. You can also walk to Aiken's finest horse training facilities and watch as jockeys navigate the thoroughbreds around the track for their early morning exercise! And don't forget about also walking to the nations largest urban forest, "Hitchcock Woods" where you can stroll or ride your favorite equine friend deep into the 2,000 acre forest for the pleasure of enjoying nature! If you have the lucky chance of renting this cottage in November, by all means attend "The Blessing of the Hounds" which takes place at Memorial Gate in Hitchcock Woods on Thanksgiving Morning. What a treat to see the riders in their fancy attire and their group of hounds getting ready for the drag! I rented this lovely cottage, sight unseen, for 2 months in Aiken SC. I was not disappointed. It is small but was perfect for me and when my husband was able to get free to stay awhile too. The location was fabulous and the house set in a comfortable quiet neighborhood with plenty of places to walk.
