Area Info
Americans have made Chapala and Ajijic the largest retirement colony outside of the United States and the majority of the population in both towns is of American origin. The Lake Chapala region of Jalisco, Mexico, with its wonderful climate and large base of ex-patriate residents, has become a very desirable place for retirees, those wanting to escape aspects of "Home" (such as the winter weather), and those who desire to live and work in Mexico.

Jalisco is home for many Mexican traditions such as Mariachi music, Tequila, many Mexican dishes and popular arts and crafts such as the traditional Mexican Sombrero. Puerto Vallarta is only one of Jalisco 's resorts on the Pacific Ocean. Puerto Vallarta and its surroundings have it all, five star accommodations, the best food, world famous night clubs and discos, golf courses, deep sea fishing, whale watching, horseback riding, rain forests, gay vacations and of course, sun, sand and beautiful beaches.
