Area Information
Sunset Beach is located 2.5 miles south of the town of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, on a beautiful, tranquil 200 foot stretch of beach. This privately owned condo complex (12 condos) with its private pier, was listed as one of the ten best places to stay on Ambergris Caye by the editor of Belize First Magazine. It is close enough to San Pedro to enjoy its amenities and nightlife, yet far enough away to feel as if you are the only one on the island! San Pedro is darling - funky and laid-back, with numerous markets, restaurants and venues for great music. There is easy access to and from town by golf cart, taxi or bicycle. You could even walk for a bit of exercise! (~40 minutes)

Most visitors to Ambergris Caye are lured there by the water. Surprise! Belize is home to the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere and therefore most people come to take advantage of the superior diving and snorkeling sites found close by - the Blue Hole, Hol Chan Reserve, Mexico Rocks and more. Sunset Beach is fortunate to have an excellent guiding service, Suya Tours, located directly behind the condominium complex.

Luxury meets beauty

From the very beginning, and our first contact with Cathy, we were treated like royalty. All of our question and minor concerns were addressed very courteously and in a timely manner. We were offered concierge services without asking for it or paying for it, and Judy and Beth were very helpful to arrange for transportation from Belize City to the island and give us good advice for rest of our trip. The property itself is top class, well kept and clean. There is a private beach, swimming pool, BBQ are and dock, as seen in the pictures. If you are into fishing, the dock is a great place to fish and crack open a beer, at night you can see some really big fish hanging out in the lighted area. Onsite manager - Chapin is a helpful and nice man. Bicycles are available on-site, a great way to get around and explore the little town and surrounding area. Highly recommended place to spend your vacation in.

Beautiful pool, beautiful condos

The condos at Sunset Beach are big, clean, and beautiful. They surpassed my expectations and my family and I had a wonderful time staying on the property. We enjoyed the private beach, dock, and pool, and even cooked a few meals in the outdoor grilling area. The only downside to this property is that you'll need to hire a driver to take you back and forth to town at a cost of $10 USD each way. If you have a few people with you, that cost is very manageable, but if you're traveling solo, it may add up quickly. Overall, a great experience and I would highly recommend staying here!

Comfortable and Relaxing

We stayed in unit A3. We were looking for a place to unwind and enjoy the warm weather for a week. We found Sunset Beach to be the perfect place! Even though it is out of town a ways, we loved how quiet and relaxing it was. We rented a golf cart the first day and explored the whole island. After that, if we wanted to go somewhere, we either walked up the beach, took the bikes, or a taxi. All were convenient and it really depends on how active you want to be. We enjoyed the kayaks, grilled one night, relaxed in the hammocks, swam or laid by the pool. All those were available right out our door! Chapin, the caretaker, was very responsive to any need we had and keeps the place neat and clean. Our condo had everything we needed and everything worked well. We would definitely stay at Sunset Beach again if we came to Belize.

Love the view from the front porch. Had lots of fun going to town for happy hour at BC's. Favorite meals were at Fido's, Wild Mangos, Robin's Jerk Chicken and pizza from Pepperoni's. Snorkeling/picnic excursion with Suya was awesome. Had a couple of massages at Ocean Essence. Wonderful! We met and visited with so many interesting people (locals and tourists). Belize was a very interesting and unique vacation. Hope to be back again someday.

We really enjoyed our stay. Condo was great had a blast in the pool and beach. The best was making new friends at the Hurricane Bar. Daniel is the owner and he took us on our own personal adventure. First time for all to snorkel had a wonderful time. Daniel was born and raised on the island so he gave us a lot of history. Definitely recommend him for any adventure you would like to take.
Thanks

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there direct flights to Belize from the U.S.?
A: Yes, there are direct flights to Belize City from Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York and Los Angeles.
Q: Once in Belize City, how do I get to Ambergris Caye and Sunset Beach condos?
A: Once I make a booking, our concierge will contact you and take it from there. She handles flights (10 minutes and easy!) to the island, golf cart rentals, and tours at no extra cost. You can also make your own arrangements to get to Ambergris Caye by water taxi. An interesting experience and a cheaper option but a much longer journey.
Q: What if something happens in the condo, such as the air conditioning stops working, or the plumbing springs a leak?
A: Our caretaker, Chapin, lives on the premises and will take care of anything and everything.
Q: Do I need to bring travelers' checks or get Belize dollars?
A: No, US dollars and credit cards are welcome. There are also ATM's you might be able to use.
Q: Should I rent a car?
A: No, you cannot rent a car on the island. People get around on foot, on bikes (we provide complimentary bikes on an as available basis), by rented golf cart, or by taxi.
Q: Do you have internet access?
A: We provide complimentary wireless internet access. Contact Chapin for details. There are also several nearby internet cafes.

Q: Can I drink water out of the tap?
A: Yes, tap water is suitable for drinking. You may also purchase bottled water at many stores.
Q: Do I need to bring bath and beach towels?
A: No, we provide plenty of each.
Q: Can you recommend a tour guide?
A: Yes, our neighbor, Carlos, is the owner of Suya tours and is an excellent guide for fishing, diving, and snorkel trips and trips to the Mainland to see Mayan ruins and more.
Q: Can you recommend a taxi service?
A: Manolo is our taxi service of choice. You can reach him at 627-0177 or 614-7732 in Belize.
Q: Are there plenty of markets for basic foods?
A: Yes, but I encourage you to take snacks you love and that travel well- you may not be able to find all of them there. The Greenhouse on Middle Street is a great fresh food store. I also go to Marinas’s near Sunset. I buy cokes and beer at the Belikin distributorship. The Belize beer is very tasty! There is also a good wine store called Wine Divine. There is a fish market in town (hard to find-ask around) and small fruit and vegetable stands in many places. There is also the larger SuperBuy in town on back street- good selection and good prices. There is a new SuperBuy across from Marina’s but I have not had a chance to try it yet.
Q: Are there any stores we should avoid?
A: It has been confirmed that both Mermaid Market and Island Supermarket overcharge tourists.
