A large veranda with a vine-strewn pergola, perfect for al fresco dining, overlooks beautifully maintained terraced gardens, with fruit trees and vegetables, that sweep down to the swimming pool (14x7m)

Area Info
Set in the heart of rural Umbria the villa is truly idyllic countryside retrea. Cut off from the bustle of city life it is reached by a drive along a dirt track. The asphalt road stops at our local village Macchie which is a 5 minute drive, or 15 minute walk away. The villagers are very welcoming and the village shop -despite its small size, stocks most of what guests might need.
The medieval walled town of Amelia, whose cyclopean walls are reputedly older than the walls of Rome is just a short drive away. Lesser known than Tuscany (and therefore less spoilt by tourism) Umbria boasts many famous Umbria medieval towns, such as Orvieto, Narni, Todi and other less known but truly charming smaller ones. The villa offers a great base for exploring the delights of Umbria. Rome is a 90 minute drive away.
For those who wish to stay close to home there are plenty of activities on offer, from horse riding and pizza making to language courses and and wine tasting or, if you simply want to relax, we can offer reflexology, shiatsu, massage, reiki or yoga.

I'm pleased to have another opprotunity to thank you for your part in us having such a wonderful holiday. This was our eighth Italian trip altogether and we have stayed in some fantastic places in Tuscany, Umbria and Sicily, but we agreed that your house and garden was the best of them all - so comfortable and homely and we felt very welcome there.

Bob and I are always nervous about the accommodation we have to look forward to on our trips as the bar seems to be set higher each time and we admit this year was no exception. We wondered if having our 'landlord' so close by would inhibit us, but thanks to your lovely relaxed attitude it was a big positive for us. Thank you for your excellent help in suggesting places to eat and visit - they all suited us perfectly.

Hello Helen,
It would be my pleasure to write a review for Poggio le Stalle. We have told countless friends about your warm hospitality and beautiful home already and would love to help you spread the word to others....It may be a while before we are able to return, but please be assured that if we have the opportunity and funds, we will be back to visit you again. Staying with you was truly one of the best travel experiences we've ever had.
