value for money (#28999)

Great location, nice people. The apartment had everything we needed. Small grocery next door. The owner was nice and very helpful. Best location. Amsterdam was the highlight of our trip to Europe! I booked 7 nights but stayed none. Beyond dirty..rancid fruit in the fridge and used toiletries about. The room had closets, but they were filled with clothing and such. Someone lived in this place! Cat hair was everywhere. The sheets were unsleepable. 100 Euro deposit lost in paypal land. Fuggedabouddit. Don't do it. #1.A cat came running out of our room as we entered. #2 Someone's personal belongings were in the closets and drawers. Used items like soap, razors, lotions and such were strewn about the sink. #3 Bed linens had black soot where not covered by the duvet and pillows. Cat hair obviously visible all over the furniture. #4 The staircase leading up to all the apartments is so narrow, winding and dauntingly steep that suitcases must be carried up one at a time. I think we were on the 5th floor..We were offered some half-hearted assistance but never recieved any. Oddly the owner wasn't available for us to express our concerns. "Alex" who informed us "I just work here" was very understanding. He kindly called us a taxi when we informed him we were leaving. Not sure if it was just scammage to steal a down payment of 100 Euros or what. We moved to the Amsterdam American Hotel in Leidesplein. Fantastic location,big clean rooms with Comfy bed and staff is gracious and accomodating. Starting with whats good: location is brilliant, the price is reasonable compared to other things in the area, kitchen and bathroom are perfectly adequate, size is good for 3 people (would be a squeeze for 4 though there is space for 4 to sleep), people were friendly. The not so good: the whole place could do with a thorough clean and the bedding is bad - all freshly washed but very shabby and stained. The owners seemed surprised I didn't want to sleep on stained bedding but did change it when I asked. The beds are not very comfortable. The internet connection and network on computer in the room were not working (I think wifi was working). Noisy at night (due to the location) Not suitable for families with small children. Not suitable for people with pet allergies (two very friendly dogs and a cat live there - there was cat hair all over everything). Search "get lucky amsterdam" on tripadvisor for more reviews. Think of this place in terms of an alternative to a backpackers hostel Great apartment, walking distance from centre, nice owners, very helpful. Overall great apartment The location is fantastic as well as the reception by the lovely Lulu. However the flat could have a little refurbishing all around. The kitchen could have more to offer and the bed and linen should be replaced by new ones immediately. In overall it's a good flat.

its amazing....they have over 1000 movies on their server and its free.....and you can call for free back home for as long as you like.....it really feels like home
