Description of the Anamosa vacation home rental
Built before 1900, the Schoolhouse was a working country school for many years, becoming a private residence in the late 1970’s and now is available for the public to enjoy. The distinctive rising sun carved into the painted peaks facing East invites visitors to a unique place teaming with a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

The house has a working kitchen, two baths (one with big old claw foot tub and the other with a Civil War-era shower), a large master bedroom on the second floor with a magnificent view to the rising sun, and two bedrooms with twin beds in the finished basement. You'll find laundry facilities and linens provided. The kitchen is complete with a dishwasher, microwave, dishes, cookware and utensils, and a coffeemaker.

Area Info
A step outside to the deck provides a beautiful sweeping view into Iowa country that Grant Wood elevated to a famous art form. In fact his historic Stone City is a “stone’s throw” down the road and nearby Anamosa boasts a Grant Wood Tourism Center and Gallery

Located on an acre of Iowa ground between the Wapsipinicon River and Buffalo Creek, the schoolhouse is planted on a hill overlooking a verdant valley. Peaceful, yet close to fine restaurants, museums and parks, the schoolhouse is the perfect get-away.
