Description of the Anchorage vacation cabin rental

This cozy lakeside cabin is 10 minutes from the airport. Walk out to the lake in the backyard and cast a line for rainbow trout; take the canoe for a spin; watch the wild geese swim by, or wade in for a swim. Within blocks, you will find fast food restaurants and a first class 24 hour grocery store. Within miles you will find wilderness hiking, shopping malls, a bowling alley, and movie theaters.

Though the state of Minnesota boasts of a thousand lakes you will find more than a million in Alaska. Yet Anchorage has only 5 lakes with residential lake front property. We think our lake (Jewel Lake) is the nicest of the 5 because boaters cannot use outboard motors and we only have the occasional noisy float plane landing on the lake.

You will hear loons making their goofy yet peaceful calls during the daylight hours. Canada Geese love to bring their new fuzzy families to our backyard to munch on the lawn. An Osprey frequents the lake and can be seen catching fish in its own unique way. Bald eagles, a common sight to Alaskans, also frequent the lake when the seagulls will allow them.

Lake activities include fishing for rainbow trout, boating, bird watching and swimming. Within walking distance of restaurants and a grocery store. Easy access to city wide bike trail system.

Excellent place to stay, October 4, 2007

This is a delightful cabin. We sat on the deck and watched stars and listened to loons on the lake. Once in a while the pair of loons would swim near our shore. The children loved the big yard and enjoyed snacking on the raspberries growing along the fence. This is indeed a Jewel of a place.
