After reading the reviews of "Over The Igloo" last December, we decided this would be the perfect place to stay in Anchorage while visiting family and participating in the Mayors Marathon Races. The suites are immaculate and the owner personalizes everything from chocolates in candy dishes, fruit in the refrigeratior, stamps, postcards, notecards, plush towels, wonderful beds, and bedding, to security, and all of the essentials of shampoo, conditioner, and coffee/tea, etc. We loved staying there and will do so again on our next visit to the area. The owner sent us several brochures, maps, and pointed out many places of interest. I took a walk with her to to the local duck pond...where she pointed out different kinds of flowers in and around the pond! Awesome owners and an awesome place to stay!!!!

We stayed in the studio side and our friendss stayed in larger unit across from us, we All thought this place was Great!!! Chris had everything you would ever want for snacks, place was spot clean , nice size bathroom and all decorated nicely. beds were very comforable and cozy. We will stay there everytime we go back if available. The only complaint we had was that Chris set out a large bowl of peanut mm's in each unit and all of us could not stop eating them. Ha ha.

I agree with every other review-this place was the best! Sparkling clean, and super comfortable. Chris goes out of her way to make you feel like the most welcomed of all guests. The unit is stocked with everything you will need to get you started-fruit, beverages, bread, unlimited bottled water, snacks-even soaps, bug spray, coolers! You name it-and it's there waiting for you just like at home. Chris is eager to offer restaurant/sight seeing suggestions...both before and during your stay. She loves her town - and will make you fall in love with it too. Everything at the Igloo was PERFECT, but I want to let you know that you will hear passing trains and a few airplanes in this neighboorhood. They may disrupt your sleep--but I would stay here again because of the 100 postives and only 1 negative aspect of the rental unit.

A Lovely Experience!

My husband and I stayed for 8 days....flew into Anchorage for a family wedding....enjoyed our stay....the accommodations were above and beyond what we expected.. spotless...comfortable beds....beautiful furnishings with native Alaskan artwork.....stocked with milk, coffee, fresh fruit, breakfast bars, snacks, very thoughtful of Chris, the owner... she goes out of her way to make your stay special....we will definitely come back!

Over the Igloo is a beautiful little haven in Spenard, kind of in the middle of everything when I'm visiting Anchorage. I love the privacy of the big studio apartment style as well as a chance to visit with the quirky innkeeper who knows where to go for almost anything in her beloved home town.

We found this rental on the internet, and it did not disappoint! The apt. is located in an older neighborhood that provides easy access to everything in Anchorage, and the suite itself is fresh, new, very clean, very well equipped, beautifully furnished (including luxurious bedding and bath products), and it's stocked with everything you could want or need and more. This rental offers 4-star accommodations and amenities for half the price of a mediocre Anchorage hotel room in high season, and we heartily recommend it to local Alaskans as well as visitors from afar. You won't be disappointed!
