Description of the Ararat vacation home rental

Come and enjoy our riverfront vacation home in picturesque Kibler valley, just down the mountain from Meadows of Dan, VA. We are situated on the Dan River about 4 miles down a six mile dead-end road. We are right on the river so you can grill by the river, relax by the river , kayak, canoe , tube, fish for trout ( it is a very popular trout river which is stocked by the Dept of Fisheries) swim, wade or put your chair in the middle of the river and just cool out. There is an electrical outlet by the river so bring the coffee pot out and the waffle iron and have a riverside breakfast. There are two houses adjacent to one another that can be rented either separately or together. Together the two houses will accommodate 10-12 people making it an ideal retreat location, for families, small corporate retreats and other small groups. Don’t worry about modern day electronic distractions as we are off the grid for both cellular and internet. However we do have a large wide-screen TV with about 20 channels for your viewing pleasure.

The house has three bedrooms and one bath. The master bedroom is located downstairs and there are two additional bedrooms upstairs. Our kitchen is well stocked with accessories and features a barstool counter space as well as a dining table. There is a great room with a wide -screen TV that opens up to a very comfortable and relaxing front porch with a view of the river and surrounding mountains. Our front yard is riverfront and large enough for a volleyball court or other activity.

Area Information

You can spend days exploring the trails in the valley, hiking up the river into pristine, totally untouched scenery or take a picnic up behind the house to the beautiful waterfall.

Kibler Valley

It's always nice to get back to the valley. The house is very comfortable and accommodating. It has everything you need for a laid back trip. The outdoor space is great. In addition to catching trout in the Dan you have a wonderful area along the river bank to kick back and have a nice fire in the evening and grill your dinner.

Owner's reply:

Glad you enjoyed the beauty of the valley.

Excellent place to get away!

This was a perfect place to get away and relax. We loved the cabin and the view was spectacular. Great hiking, caverns, Civil War historical sites and wineries are all nearby. We will definitely be coming back.

home with character nestled between mountains

the house smelled a bit musty when we arrived so we the first thing we did was to open the windows. my husband and i liked the updated kitchen that allowed us to prepare meals and clean up with ease. The view of the mountains and river was spectacular.

Meaningless, polite, supportive review title

We enjoyed our stay (3 nights). It was the weekend everyone comes to the valley for the float down the river, so there was lots of traffic on the road, but that also meant a lot of people for our little girls to wave at . The owner was friendly and extremely low key about things. Our only issue were bug bites from some invisible, presumably flying, assailants. We did spend a lot of time on the porch... maybe next time we will bring some insect repellent.

Owner's reply:

Thank you Doug ! Glad you had a good time !

Quiet, Peaceful Place to Stay

Beautiful old home in a peaceful setting with great views and large front yard right on the Dan River. The owner Steve couldn't be any more helpful or friendly. The home is in a serene, private area but is within easy driving distance of a number of small towns and attractions - Mt. Airy, NC and the Mabry Mill in the Blue Ridge Parkway are must-sees. Only negative during our stay was the unusually strong river current due to some heavy rainfall in early July. Highly recommended.

Owner's reply:

Thanks Kipp - Glad you enjoyed the beauty of Kibler Valley.

Peace and Serenity

As usual my stay on the river was very relaxing. The house has all the modern amenities and a fully stocked kitchen. The upstairs bedrooms are a little hard for an older to person to get to but for younger people they are great. The front porch is very relaxing as is the front yard down by the river. As usual I enjoyed my time spent with family and friends and the peace and serenity of the mountains and river. Also we fell in love with Hurley, the Kibler Valley River Dog, he is so sweat and friendly. My 13 year old son made another animal friend. We can't wait to come back and spend another vacation on the river. Thank you Steve for allowing us to enjoy your home and beautiful space on the river. Thanks again. Lori and Family

Can't wait to come back to Kibler Valley.

Thanks Steve for opening up your home to us. Kibler Valley is a beautiful area. It couldn't have been any better for our group. Our son's youth band came through Stuart Va., (10 miles) on Friday and performed in downtown Mount Airy, N.C (13miles) on Saturday. Then our family couldn't wait to get back to the house to fix supper for everyone to join in good food, fun and fellowship along with a great old time and bluegrass jam. Your kitchen had everything we needed. Sleeping arrangements were perfect for our group. 1 bathroom didn't cause any problems with everyone having to get up at the same time to make the live radio show. We look forward to returning in the warm weather so we can enjoy time by the Dan River for tubing, fishing and cooking out. Your big field will be perfect for a little tag football game too. Best part of weekend was when one of the band members walked in and saw a piece of Seagrove Pottery that his Grandmother Teague had made. We knew we were in the right place for a great weekend. OLDGRASS will be back!

Steve Mitchell

Owner's reply:

Thanks Elizabeth looking forward to having OLDGRASS back in Aug. Pretty neat about the Seagrove Pottery. Thanks Again
