Visiting Aruba
Located in the southern Caribbean Sea, Aruba has lots to offer families on vacation. When planning a trip to the island, parents can rest assured that there are plenty of activities for everyone, even smaller children. In addition, parents and their children will appreciate the beauty of the island and its clear waters. Aruba is a vacation destination that will be remembered fondly for years to come.
Regions of Aruba
Knowing the different regions in Aruba will help with selecting from the various Aruba rentals that we have to offer. Identifying regions can also be helpful in terms of knowing what landmarks, attractions, or sights are near the rentals that you are most interested in. The island is made up of eight regions: Oranjestad West, Noord/Tank Leendert, Paradera, Oranjestad East, Sint Nicolaas north, Santa Cruz, Sint Nicolaas south and Savaneta.
Sightseeing in Aruba and Things to Do
Although your nights may be spent sleeping in one of the many Aruba vacation rentals that are for rent by owner, there are plenty of things for families to do that will fill your days. If sightseeing is a part of your itinerary, there are numerous tours that will take you to the island's many attractions. Tours are a great way to learn while exploring and can be taken by bus, horse, ATV, or even by submarine!
Whether you are lucky enough to get your hands on one of the Aruba beach villas or you're staying at another of the Aruba condo rentals located on the island, you are certain to enjoy spending time at one of the island's beaches, including Baby Beach which is ideal for families with children. Other fun things for travelers with family include visiting The Donkey Sanctuary Aruba and Arikok National Park. January is a great time to visit and stay at an Aruba vacation rental. That's because January means the start of the month-long Aruba Carnival. This festive celebration includes music, parades, and dancing in the streets. Daytime events, such as the Children's Parade, are likely more suitable for families than some of the nighttime celebrations.
Regional Foods and Dining in Aruba
Food in Aruba is as diverse as the many different people and nationalities that have come to call it home. On the island you'll naturally find food with a Caribbean flare, but you'll also find dishes that are influenced by Dutch, European and South American cuisine. Visitors to the island will enjoy dishes such as Caribbean jerk ribs and pan bati. Seafood, frog legs, and liver are common food items found in Aruba dining establishments and homes. While on vacation, tourists may enjoy meals at resorts or hotel restaurants, however, for more authentic cuisine there are plenty of local spots to enjoy a true taste of Aruba.
Aruba Weather and Climate
Bright sun and a tropical climate await you when traveling to Aruba. While staying at one of the Aruba vacation rentals you'll enjoy sunny days a majority of the year, although there are the occasional but brief showers during the rainy season. On average the majority of rainfall occurs from October to January and averages eighteen inches annually. In general you can expect temperatures that stay within the 80s, although they may be higher or lower depending on the time of year. During the winter months of December through March, people staying at Aruba rentals experience lower temperatures than they would if they were visiting May through October, when temperatures tend to be higher.
When to Visit Aruba
Although Aruba is beautiful a majority of the time, visiting the country is better at certain times of the year in terms of the money that you can save. For people who are planning to choose from the listings on our site, the main concern in terms of pricing will be travel. During the early fall, flights to Aruba may be available at a greater discount than at other times of years. April through August is also considered Aruba's off-season, which means that there will likely be fewer tourists located on the island.
