What makes us eco?
We are an eco-education center with gardens and greenhouse; perennial, edible and medicinal plants; chickens, bees, mushroom production and fish ponds; rainwater and greywater catchment; an outdoor classroom in the connected wooded lot; sustainability trainings with an annual calendar of events -- see linked site for details.
The house:
The house was built in the 20's and has gone under a partial retrofit. The style/feel is a combo of salvaged, funky, natural and simple. It is not fancy, but it is cozy, spacious, comfortable and clean. We have a composting toilet (humanure-style). Some of our walls are finished with natural clay paints. The floors are wooden with a nice, big white carpet in the living room to hang out on, do yoga, etc.
