La Casita is such a darling little place that doesn't feel all that little -- in fact, it was spacious, comfy and so homey -- all the things one could ask for from a home away from home. I stayed here for a month because I was taking a summer course at UT and it was such an ideal place -- easy access to the local bus line with the nearest stop just 5 mins away. My classes were in the evening and ended late at night, so it was common for me to walk in the neighborhood at night -- it felt safe. In fact the whole neighborhood has such a lovely and mellow vibe. Grocery stores, cafes and restaurants are all a 5 min walk away, with easy access to downtown Austin through the local bus line. JoAnn was such a wonderful and gracious host with a beautiful family, some of whom I had the pleasure of meeting. She was generous with her offers to help and just an all-around lovely person. We even went on a little road trip to San Antonio together to see her husband in a theatre production and it was fun! Honestly, I couldn't offer enough praises for this place and the host, JoAnn. If you're thinking about renting the place, do it. You couldn't possibly go wrong (or even do any better) than La Casita. :)

We stayed at Jo Ann's Eastside casita this past weekend and it was AWESOME! Her newly renovated space and beautifully landscaped yard were very enticing and peaceful. The Casita is 15 minutes from SoCo, 10 minutes (tops) from downtown Austin and within walking distance to at least 5-6 places to eat, drink and be merry. I would definitely stay there again next time I am in Austin. Thank you, Jo Ann!

My father and I loved our stay in Jo Ann's casita. Not only was the place cozy and comfortable, but it was artfully designed, newly remodeled, and close to everything we wanted to do in Austin. We didn't have a clear agenda when we came to town, and Jo Ann helped us find some great local restaurants, events, and destinations to check out (including the best fried chicken place we've ever been to). She also saw to many details that made our stay more comfortable, including thoughtfully providing bug spray for our use when we sat on our private patio, coffee and tea, the recent best-of-austin restaurant guide from the local paper, and even a few cold cans of sparkling water to welcome us on our arrival. She was very easy to reach, and checked in with us to offer assistance. And the fold-out sofa bed (I promise I'm being completely honest) was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. It is such a treat to stay in a place that someone has put so much care and creativity into. I would recommend the casita to anyone traveling to Austin. -Dahvi May 2012
The casita was truly a delightful place to stay in a gem of a neighborhood! Our hosts JoAnn and Rupert were very friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. The casita itself was beautiful - everything feels brand new and the layout is so thoughtfully designed. I loved the back patio and polished concrete floors. The little desk nook with stained glass window was a wonderful place to work. The apartment felt so quiet and private. There are many good restaurants just at the end of the street, so even without a car there is no problem finding something delicious to eat. I would definitely recommend this unit to someone who wants a charming and relaxing stay in Austin. Rebecca May 2012
I really enjoyed my stay at Jo Ann's Casita! It's located in a funky neighborhood that I felt safe walking at night (always a concern of mine when traveling). The unit itself was perfect. My top three favorite things that set this unit apart from most: 1) the adorable fitted desk, which was just right for some work I had to do. 1) The full, well appointed kitchen. It made light cooking/ snacking not only possible but fun. 3) The washer/ dryer in unit- so convenient! Bottom line, this unit represented everything the pictures show and more. It's new, well thought out and very comfortable. I would live here if I were allowed to move in:) Andrea April 2012
The Casita was excellent! We needed a place for South by Southwest and this worked perfectly - it's right on the bus line and an easy trip to downtown. The space itself is beautiful, comfortable, and very well equipped for a vacation - plus, quiet and private enough for getting work done. JoAnn was very nice and professional - very responsive and with all the help and information I needed and she even made recommendations of places to eat in the neighborhood (there are many, many good restaurants nearby!). My friends and I were very comfortable in our stay at SXSW. Jo Ann was a great host, very easy going, hospitable. I didn't feel like I was far from home, virtually every accommodation was met. We were pretty close to all the festivities and it was easy to get to and from 6th street either by driving or bus. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to visit Austin, and would definitely return to stay at La Casita in the future! Kevin March 2012
