Description of the Austin vacation home rental

New home. 1-story with fantastic deck overlooking the Pedernales valley (2 miles from the confluence of the Colorado and Lake Travis) - only 30 miles (or 35 minutes) from downtown Austin.

Cathedral ceilings in the great room, open kitchen with 2 sinks and huge granite island, stainless steel appliances. All glass on back of house. 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths. Waterfront with clear blue water and boat dock with slip. Huge old Oak trees shade the 1,200 foot deck that has an outdoor dining and living area. Large front yard, completely fenced for kids.

You can bring your boat or jet ski's and launch 30 minutes from our house at Granite Beach.

This is the neck of the woods where Willie Nelson has a home, so does the Director Robert Rodriguez, and one of the Dixie Chicks. In the heart of the Texas Hill Country - you'll find old oak trees, country lanes, rolling blue hills, lakes, BBQ joints and honky tonks (Willie Nelson's road manager owns Poodie's Bar up the street - known for great live music and the best hamburgers around... if you can stand the smoke!). Highway 71 is the main route here - we are located a few miles from the Barton Creek Country Club and 15 miles from Horseshoe Bay golf courses.

It's quiet out here - all you hear is an occasional boat and birds.

There are several fabulous restaurants out here in the country that welcome families and kids. Plus, there are two wonderful wineries within 5 miles, as well as a new Galleria shopping mall 15 minutes up the road.

There are 3 fantastic lake front parks (Grelle , Muleshoe Bend Recreation area, and Pace Bend Park nearby with great trails for mountain biking, boating, kayaking and hiking. One of the neatest fresh water spring fed pools is about 5 miles from here through the hill country (Krause Springs). The new outdoor mall called Hill Country Galleria is up HWY 71 about 15 minutes from here with several great restaurants, shops (Dillard's, Anne Taylor, Chico's and more) plus a new movie theater.

Note: If you have boats (and/or jet ski's) we have a private launch (2 blocks from our house)to the lake and then you can dock them in our boat dock. However, it is dry now - due to no rain. Or, you can rent watercraft nearby.

• Lodging Tax: 12%
   
• Deposits: 50% of total amount of reservation is due when the reservation is made. Your reservation is confirmed once we receive payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard, cashier's checks, money orders. The remaining 50% is billed 14 days prior to check in.
   
• Other Fees: A $500 Damage Deposit is required on a major credit card. 12% city and state lodging tax is charged. A one time $95 cleaning fee is charged. $25 per hour late charge for every half hour check out late. We sometimes can arrange for late checkout if you call in advance and we have no one checking in that same day.

I stayed there with my entire family that flew in from France (7 adults and 2 kids). There ample room for everyone. They all really loved the house and the surrounding countryside. That was a great first impression of the United States and the Hill Country.
