Area Description

For Nature Lovers needing a dose of the great outdoors, the Seitz Camp offers plenty both on and off the water.
Landlubbers: Steiner Ranch, our neighborhood, offers eighteen miles of trails that roll through the hillside offering a new view of the winding river at every turn. Mature oaks and other native trees and plants color the rolling hills while songbirds serenade you.
Birdwatchers: If you don't feel like leaving the nest, train your binoculars or our telescope on the banks of the Golden-Cheeked Warbler Preserve that sits just across the Colorado river. Herons, egrets, hawks and turkey vultures abound.
Paddlers: Grab a boat and head out in search of the old hunting camp on the preserve or the creeks across the river. Take your camera and binoculars and soak in Mother Nature's intoxicating beauty.
Fishermen: Catfish, largemouth bass and sunfish are the predomiant species you will find on the end of your hook.
Boaters: Launch your boat 20 feet away at the neighborhood park's private T-Dock and head down river for burgers, beer and a band at Ski Shores or further down to the dam for Tex Mex at the Hula Hut. We have a covered lift to keep your boat safe during your stay. Lake Austin runs 19 miles dam to dam with plenty to explore in between.
Golfers: Drive. Slice. Hook 'Em. That's the motto of the University of Texas Golf Club 5 miles down the road, a 7,412 yard Bechtol Russell-designed championship course nestled between Lake Austin and Lake Travis.
Couch Potatoes: Hit the hammock. That's all you have to do.
Prefer bing pampered? Have no fear, for Lake Austin Spa is very near. One of the finest luxury destination spas in the country is within walking distance. It's easy to enjoy days of pampering when you're not breaking the bank with the overnight price tag of a luxury spa. Health-indulge by day, self-indulge by night! And bring all your friends; we won't charge you extra!

Lake Austin fun, September 8, 2009
By Tim (Austin)
Great place for a relaxing weekend. Lake Austin is just beautiful and it's always great watching the boats and boarders. All the sleeping is upstairs, airconditioned and very comfortable. Downstairs is unairconditioned but still very nice and appropriate for the open porch and closeness to the dock and lake. Very nice.

 Great Weekend!, August 25, 2009
By Adam kane (Dallas, Tx)
The house was great and we had an awesome time! There are a bunch of boats around, and the kayaks were fun to take in the water.

 Relaxing experience, July 20, 2009
By vivian Bridges (Cuero, Texas)
We had a great time. It is a beautiful house and was amazed at all of the amenities provided. Needed more wascloths, but plenty of towels. Need some tips on catching fish though. Used just about everything for bait, but fish weren't taking it. We saw huge fish - catfish and bass in the water, but they ignored the bait. Other than that, we had a great time!! See you next year.

 Austin Vacation, June 30, 2009
By Brian Kielian (Omaha, NE)
Overall the house was great for a group of 7-9 people. Plenty of room. The boat lift could be updated to accommodate a a larger more current boat. Other than that it was great.

 Great place, March 30, 2009
By Chris (San Antonio TX)
We had a great time at this place. Plenty of outdoor activities as well as indoor games. Plenty of space. We had 10 adults and never felt cramped. The house is tucked away from the big city right on the water and the veiw is beautiful, while still being close enough to all to austin to enjoy what the city has to offer you. Nothing negative to say about the house.

Nostalgic River Fun, March 20, 2009
By Dave Parnell (Carrollton, TX)
Comfortable house at a great quiet location on he water. We paddled up and down the lake/river, explored the nature preserve and waterfall, grilled our meals and enjoyed the gameroom. Plus --- the high school and college aged among us discovered the turntable and wonderful collection of vinyl!!

 Vacation, December 3, 2008
By Tina Kiracofe (Manhattan Beach, Ca)
The home was located in a wonderful spot and was very comfortable. We did cook in most nights and several of the basic need pans (cookie sheet, 13x9 baking dish) were not available. We thought these were pretty basic and maybe should be added to the kitchen. You will not be disappointed with the house or the location.
