Description of the Baiting Hollow vacation cottage rental

Quiet time? Ladies weekend? Romantic get-away? Family fun? Bring a book, friends or loved ones to this private and fully appointed beach house featuring beautiful water views from two decks well positioned on the bluffs to boast truly magestic water views of the Long Island Sound. Prepare to relax, read a book, go wine tasting at one of the many local vineyards, or dig your feet into the sand of our private beach located a short walk away. The house has an open floor plan that comes equipped with a large upper deck with stunning unobstructed water views, a wrap-around deck for outdoor dining, a queen bed, twin bunk beds, outdoor furniture, BBQ, Cable TV, coffee machine, kitchen appliances, wine rack, dining table and chairs, woodburning stove, overhead fan, air conditioning, etc. Minutes to golf, wineries, Atlantis Aquarium, Briermere's farms, Tanger Outlets, Splish Spash ( Voted 5 best waterpark in the U.S.) 5 star restaurants, farm stands, and antiques. Sleeps 2 adults and 2 children in the master bedroom with additional guests who could be accomodated in the sitting room.
15 minutes to the famous Hamptons or Greenport, 30 minutes to Orient Point. No pets.

Area Information

The cottage is located in a lovely year round community consisting of 37 cottages in the hamlet of Baiting Hollow. The private beach reminds many people of a typical New England beach with large rocks and rugged coastline giving charm, while still offering enough sand for play and relaxation. There is no shortage of things to do in the area including vineyards, shopping, amusement parks, beaches, great restaurants, etc. Come to relax or have the time of your life in this still little discovered area of the north shore, Long Island.

Super cozy charming getaway

We are a family of four with two boys aged 10 and 12. The house was just perfect for us. It was quite rustic and homey so we didn't have to worry as we would have if we were in a more "pristine" property. The grounds around the residence were beautiful, wooded, with some really nice common areas: swing set, basketball court and picnic area. Of the course the main attraction is the beach just down a flight of stairs, which was just wonderful. The little town of Riverhead was quite nice, as was the Long Island Aquarium, The Cooperage Inn and the Fall Festival.

Surprise Weekend

My husband did it again, surprised me with a long weekend here. We stayed here last year for our first anniversary and came back this year with my cousins. We had such a great time. Watched the sunrise from the roof top deck and walked down to the beach to watch the sunset. We utilized the wood burning stove one night. The cottage is clean and cozy. Would recommend this spot to anyone. Walking distance to the beach. Very close to the vineyards and great restaurants. Thanks again Blake for the use of your cottage. Hope to be back real soon!

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STAY

My husband surprised me with a weekend away for our first anniversary by taking me to this cottage near the wine country. The cottage was absolutely incredible. It was clean, fully equipped with everything you need. It actually has a king sized bed (the ad says queen).It was perfect for a romantice getaway. The view of the sound from the upper deck was spectacular. The cottage was a short walk to the path leading to the beach. We watched an amazing sunset,the second night there. I would recommend staying here either for a romantic weekend or for fun beachtime with the family. The location is close to the vineyards and some amazing restaurants. Blake, the owner, was very nice to talk to and was very helpful in setting up this weekend with my husband.

Fantastic Getaway

We spent a whole week end at the house and we had a fantastic time. The house is literally steps away from the beach (we were often the only ones on the beach which was great). The house is fully equipped (cable TV, AC, full kitchen) and the view from the deck and the lounge is incredible at sunset. Shops are only 5 minutes away. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Excellent Vacation Getaway

A quiet, comfortable, relaxing and well equipped cottage. Nice little community. The hustle and bustle just a few hundred yards south is a world away. A few people at most on the private beach. Great views from both inside and on the raised deck. The owner is pleasant and attentive. A destination in itself, we enjoyed the cottage so much the first time we rented, we just had to come back again. Highly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised by the view from the upper deck. A great place to relax and enjoy your morning coffee. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Close to the beaches, local farm markets, and great restaurants. We will definitely be returning to this spot!!

Affordable Spot for our Family Get-Together

My husband and I live in Virginia; our children in upstate New York and New Hampshire. My sister and brother-in-law were hosting their 50th Anniversary party in Riverhead. Blake's cottage in Baiting Hollow was perfect for our needs! The cottage was well-equipped and the views from the house and the decks were great. Very lovely community! The children enjoyed the swings and we walked and played on the beach (the cottage is very convenient to the walkway)each morning. The adults found time to explore the outlet stores and there were many other things to do had we been able to schedule a longer stay. Next time....

Good, but needs some TLC

Everything was in order and our owner left the key under the mat for us as we were late getting in. It's in Long Island wine country, tucked away in the back of the development with a view of the sea. Good for a weekend getaway from the city, and very quiet. The sitting area in the front is very relaxing, and it's a short walk down a wooden staircase to the beach. Beautiful sunsets and the water is chilly because it's Long Island, but swimmable and inviting. It's clear we were the first guests of the season as there was a little plumbing problem, we ran out of propane for the grill, and the water heater inexplicably turned off causing us to cut our stay short. Our owner was very accomodating, though, and took $$ off our balance for the inconvenience.
