Family relaxation

The place was very nice and peaceful. the family had a nice time on the quiet lake with the pontoon and kayaks. also watched eagles and loons the entire week. The lake was very clean and the grandkids enjoyed playing in the water.

Owner's reply:

Every one gives us a 5 star, I feel bad that Jim did not do so since we offer more than any renter I know and we are at least $700 cheaper than we should be with the pontoon and gas, spices and linens. We do a wine basket and supply kayaks, fire wood gas, gas grills. Coffee grinder, food processor, we even supply paper towels napkins and so much more. This 3 bedroom 2002 home is just like new with a master loft suite. Where did we fall short a star Jim? Gee I forgot to mention we greet guest

A Great Cottage Retreat !

The cottage is very well appointed with all the comforts of home and then some, having a motorized pontoon boat and 4 kayaks was a plus and just added to the fun for us and the grand kids. The scenery and the lake were beautiful and relaxing . If your looking for comfort and up north scenery and outdoor activities this the place. Sam & Cindy Michaels

Owner's reply:

Thanks so much Sam and Cindy we try hard to keep things like new and we keep adding more things to do and more water toys. I hope you had a chance to catch some nice fish. Martha and I hope to see you again soon. Did you like the wind backet?

Wonderful vacation

Our family had a great trip during our stay a Rigg's Retreat, it was everything Gene described and more. We enjoyed the pontoon, kayaks and canoe. Our boys discovered lake penguins (loons) and we saw the eagle several times. It rained a few days so having the wifi was nice to keep pre teens occupied on their devices. It is a long way to the lake but the steps are sturdy and hand rails helpful. It became a running joke to see who had to make the most return trips from the beach to house for forgotten items :) Rigg's Retreat is so quiet and peaceful, it was tough to return to work and all the noise! Thanks for a great experience, we do plan to return sometime.

Great owners!

Due to an everchanging hectic work schedule, I was not able to confirm my reservation. I gave them a 5 star rating based on the experience I had with the property owner. Very kind and accommodating. When I am able to confirm dates, this is the place I want to stay!

Gene Riggs

Owner's reply:

Thanks for the review Jennifer, we try to be prompt as well as keeping our properties in like new condition. We have a large repete guests list and that makes it all worth while. We love what we do and we have fun doing it.

Thanks and take care

nice and quiet

We had a good time the weather was not the best but it was still very relaxing. This cottage has everything you could ever need and a nice quiet lake to have fun. The fishing was not the best but when you grow up on a farm with a 13 acre private lake with the best fishing ever you will spend the rest of your life measuring other lakes that just get fished to much to ever grow a big fish. If you are looking for a clean equipped place to stay this is the place for you. Thanks Gene and Martha you take very good care of your place.

Gene Riggs

Owner's reply:

Thanks Jason. Fishing can be good one day and bad the next. We have caught 24 inch large mouth bass and 36 in northern pine and 14 inch perch and I belive the state record gill came out of our lake. My wife got one gill that was 10 3/4 and I thought that was huge. Ice fishing is good and hot one day and bad the next.

It's truly a great place to stay and with all the toys and a Pontoon it very hard to beat.
thanks for the nice review and we hope to see you again.

A great getaway!

We so enjoyed our time in this peaceful area. The house was immaculate and very well appointed. We enjoyed cozy fires inside and out and put in a lot of time on the lake in the kayaks.

Great Week and cottage!

Accept for the 110 steps to the beach, everything was wonderful. All the boats made my grandchildren happy. The decor and layout of the cottage (or should I say home since it was so much more than the average cottage) was the best we've ever rented.

Gene Riggs

Owner's reply:

Thanks for the nice comments. The steps are as good as they are a pain. Keeps the kids closuer to you if they are small. Great exercise for most us and according the the US statistics more of us should use them. :-) We can't keep our Gand kids out of the water even if we had twice the steps.
However being nice rail road ties with a hand rail it not an issue. I can see where is would be with someone with bad hips or knees.
Glad you enjoyed you stay. We are constintly updating and adding t

What makes our two home so special is not just that they are like new, but the Great wine basket we put together and all of the toys we supply. Pontoon, 4 kayaks, pedal boat, canoe, paddle board, horseshoes, volleyball on the beach, tether ball, swim dock, boat dock, gas for the pontoon, gas grill, char coal grill and we supply the gas and charcoal. We also supply the fire wood (oak) and starter. The grounds are wll manacured and the lake is clean, and fishing si good and we have Loons and is wonderful to hear them calling. We have an abundence of wild life and many great trails to walk, or ride. and the sun sets are super.
One thing that helps keep our properties so nice in the rebate on rents. When our guests do a wonderful job on the home and leave it as ncie as when them came in we refund up to $450 of the gross rent. We also do not charge tax as we pay that. out of our gross. thus we are booked solid for the summers and we rent all year long.

We have two guest books for both of our two lake front rentals which are walking distance appart. You can view the comments on another site that we can send to you. We have had many guests that have been back three consecutive years and we have some that come back year after year. We even had one guests that came from the state of California for their 3rd year and may be coming back. We have the same fisherman, snowmobilers, hunters, etc. etc. Many of or guests come to us by word of mouth which is great. We have even had people take both homes as a group or family.
