Description of the Bangor vacation cottage rental

Quaint, three bedroom cottage on Big Indian Lake. The fully furnished, well insulated cottage has all the comforts of home. Both the living room and large bedroom provides breathtaking, panoramic views of one of Maine's pristine lakes. Big Indian is 4 miles long and 1 mile wide and is filled with bass, chain pickerel, brook trout, and perch. Either fish from the private dock or use our canoe, kayak or small motor boat. Listening to the loons, watching the eagles soar or spot an occasion moose is the ideal vacation for family or friends. A short drive for golfing and 15 minute ride to Newport for shopping.

Amenities:

Kayak, canoe, small motor boat, fire pit overlooking lake. Washer & Dryer, television, VCR & BBQ. Fully applianced kitchen including microwave, toaster, dishwasher. Fully carpeted and heated. Nice bathtub with shower.

Activities:

Summer: Fishing, four wheeling, whitewater rafting at the Forks area, hiking, biking; public beach for swimming and golfing near by. A trip to the coast is about an hour away, where flea markets, antiquing, wonderful seafood and beaches to enjoy. Bar Harbor one of Maine's famous tourist destinations is a little over an hour away.

Winter: Wonderful snowmobiling right from the house. Club trail cuts across our cove and leads to ITS 85. Also, snowshoeing, ice fishing and cross country skiing is often enjoyed on the lake.

Rates:

The property rental for the week is $650.00 (peak season June 1 thru August 31)and a cleaning fee of $75.00. A deposit of $175.00 is required to reserve the home. The balance of the rental along with a damage deposit of $250 must be paid in full 40 days prior to rental. Weekend or longer stays are possible depending on the reservation scheduling and time of season.

Off season rate is $525 for the week, ($200 for the weekends) and cleaning fee of $75.00

Area Description

Big Indian lake (Saint Albans Me.)is located in the Maine highlands area with rolling hills and wonderful old growth hardwood and pine tree forest. The fishing and boating on the lake is first class. Lots of wildlife, with eagles, beaver, deer and moose. The house is 1 hour from the coast of Maine and about one hour from some of Maine's best white water rafting/canoing on the Kennebec river. Along the river is one of America's most beautiful scenic byways.

Good fishing and quiet, August 22, 2008

Nicely furnished home. Linens included. Very quite dirt road and peaceful lake. Not for swimming off the dock, too many weeds. Really enjoyed the boat and canoe. Used them everyday. Good for biking around the lake, wildlife & fishing, saw a bald eagle catch a fish! Enjoyed cooking marshmallows on the fire pit. Only thing needed is an outdoor table. St. Albans is quiet and the home of the largest cinnamon bun, "the mountain bun" yummy! Need internet, go into Dexter and visit the public library, wonderful old building.
