Description of the Banner Elk vacation cabin rental

Escape the Summer Heat... Escape the hustle and bustle of the everyday at this quiet mountain get-away nestled on a wooded mountain side. If it seems that each year the summers are hotter and the crowds are bigger, escape to this retreat where 4500 ft elevation means the average summer temperature is a mild 77 degrees.

Over the years many guests have commented that visiting our cabin is like staying at the home of an out-of-town friend. It has all the comforts of home, as well as the privacy of the woods, the beauty of the mountains and the activities of a resort area.

The living/dining room has a cathedral ceiling with clerestory windows up high and a stone fireplace. A fire offers warmth and atmosphere after skiing or on cool summer evenings. Relax with cable TV, a video on the VCR/DVD player or enjoy your favorite music on the stereo. A small assortment of videos and CDs are provided.

Handmade quilts cover the beds in the two vaulted-ceiling bedrooms, both of which open to the deck with glass doors. The master bedroom has a king size bed and is adjacent to the large (4 person) Jacuzzi, which is a great comfort after a busy day of site-seeing or skiing. On one side of the Jacuzzi room is a full bathroom and on the other side is a small, private deck.

The second bedroom has twin beds and also opens to the deck with glass doors. A "secret" sleeping loft, accessible by a ladder has two foam chair sleepers which unfold to twin size and is perfect for children. A second full bath is accessible across the hall.

The dining room table seats six comfortably and overlooks the back deck. For additional seating, four barstools line the counter that separates the kitchen from the living/dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with range, refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher, dishes and cooking utensils. A washer and dryer are adjacent to the living/dining area.

A large deck runs along the front of the cabin and is accessible by big glass doors from each of the bedrooms and the living/dining room area. It is equipped with several chairs, a picnic table, and a gas barbecue grill. The deck offers a great view of slopes of nearby Hawksnest resort during the winter months.

Located on Seven Devils Mountain in the North Carolina High Country, the cabin is within walking distance (1/2 mile) of Hawksnest Ski and Golf resort. The towns of Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock are nearby and offer endless activities for a romantic retreat or a fun family get-away.

The cabin is located in is a quiet, heavily wooded, residential area, with a mix of full time residents and owners/ renters. The paved roads are well maintained by the Town of Seven Devils. The community is very secure, with only one road in and out; the town Police and Fire Station/Town Hall is located about midway up the main road, and only a few miles below the cabin.

Wow! What a great place. The house was spotless,welcoming and well furnished. The bed was super! I have had my spine fused, and usually awake in pain. Not from this bed! The deck was great. The hot tub soothed the aches at the end of the days. The foliage was spectacular. The turkeys gave us a goodbye parade down the street on Saturday morning. I have fallen in love with the high country!
