We have never used V.H.R. before, so Frank's Cottage in the Round was our first experience. My boyfriend and I rented out this adorable home for 3 nights in late December and we couldn't be happier with the location, price, and cleanliness. We came during a great week as it snowed a bit leaving us with fresh powder at Beech Mountain so we packed in a wonderful day of skiing. After being up at the mountain all day we were able to come back to our warm, cozy cottage and crank up the fireplace! We also used the hot tub every night-- it was SO nice to have since it was very cold and windy. I would definitely recommend this place for couples, very romantic. We will be back! Thanks, Frank!

Banner Elk Cottage

We loved our time spent at the Cottage in the Round. We walked to the duck pond every afternoon, sat in the backyard swing to watch the sun set and enjoyed the jacuzzi most evenings. We didn't have to venture far to see many wonderful sites. Trout fishing, gem mining, visiting the bears at Grandfather Mountain Winery. Great food at the local restaurants and a grocery nearby to stock our pantry. The owner is a pleasure to rent from he shares his memories and sites to see. You'll love it in Banner Elk don't take my word for it go visit :)

Just us two for two days

My boyfriend and I needed a mid holiday getaway. We are sorta work alcoholics and hasn't been on vacation in years. So we booked this place and forced our selves to turn off our phones and relax. We didn't do much be sleep, walk, talk, eat a d grill but that is the experience we wanted. There was loads to do but we just needed peace and quiet. After getting there we felt so bad for leaving our dog at home. We will be coming back hoping to make it a yearly trip.

My girlfriend and I stayed at this cottage over Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed our stay very much. It was the perfect place for two people. It was secluded but within easy reach of stores in Banner Elk and restaurants and other sites in Boone and in the mountains nearby. The hot tub and the fireplace were particularly excellent parts of this cottage. The kitchen included all the essentials to make a complete Thanksgiving meal and for all our other meals as well. The bed was very comfortable and made sleeping in very very easy. For those looking for a relaxing and quiet getaway, this is a great place. It was romantic.

Perfect Location for a Cozy Mountain Getaway

This is my family's second stay at the Cottage in the Round. We love it! It has everything our family of three could need. It is in a great central location. Everywhere we wanted to go was within 10 minutes of the cabin. We enjoyed Oktoberfest on Sugar Mountain, caving & rafting with Earth & River Adventures, and hiking the profile trail at Grandfather Mountain. Great place for a weekend getaway.

My wife and I, along with our two dogs, used this cottage for a weekend getaway and we couldn't be happier with it. It was in a great location with plenty of stuff to do, and great views. There are plenty of hiking trails around the area, which our dogs thoroughly enjoyed. We plan on using this cottage again in the future, only next time we will book a longer stay.

Lesbian couple enjoys Romantic cottage

Everything was within driving distance; sky valley zip lining, grandfather mountain, linville falls, wahoos white river rafting and their new river tubing adventure. We are two women who needs assistance with the gas grill and fireplace, Frank answered calls and tended to our needs everytime. The cottage was clean and everything we needed (pots, pans, forks, washing liquid, bleach, towels) was available. The only thing you would need to bring is food. Star gazing in the jacuzzi in 50 degree weather was phenomenal. The water remained hot outside in the jacuzzi and also inside of the cabin. I was upset that the bikes were a viable however, wasnt worried about the mountains wildlife since the grass was cut. I'm afraid of tall grass lol. The able television, ps2, board games, movies, wifi was also beneficial to the cabin experience. I'm grateful that he was available all times when we called. He even gave us ideas of what to do while there. Would rent during wintertime

Great place to stay for 2 adults & 1 child. Very clean and cute. The cottage is right in the middle of Granfather Mountain and Tweetsie Mountain. We will definately be staying at the cottage again. We stayed when it was 90 degrees during the day, there is no A/C but it is not needed at night it was cool and comfortable. We just loved it! The neighborhhod that the cottage is in is so nice and quiet. Thanks :) One thing I must bring up, dont expect a "Mac Daddy Grill" the grill that is there is not the best and it is definately not new, but it worked out fine.

Wonderful stay for our first anniversary

My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this little cottage for our first wedding anniversary. The hot tub was great to relax in the evenings, and the size of the cottage was just right for the two of us. Thank you for providing this wonderful getaway that includes so many great amenities for the price; there were bikes and fishing poles we could have used but didn't have the time unfortunately. We would love to come back sometime in the future!

This cozy cottage was exactly as described. It was clean and well-decorated, located in a quiet neighborhood close to Tweetsie and Grandfather Mountain. We really enjoyed our stay. The gas grill came in handy for cookouts. The kitchen is very small (as is the cottage!) but well-equipped for our family meals. The sleeper sofa was comfortable for our kids.

Romantic Getaway

This is our second time renting this property. We absolutely loved our stay. They are so gracious to rent their home out for mountain lovers to enjoy the area. It was a much needed weekend away for Mommy and Daddy! It's very close in driving distance to the Biltmore, which we traveled to. We also visited our old "haunts" from our Appalachian State college days. Thank you again! Next time we're bringing the kiddo.

Cozy Cottage

Liked the location very much; this community is convenient to Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock and lots of other locations. Very private setting, that although was close to other cabins, we couldn't see our neighbors because of all the trees. The cabin itself was very clean and nice, and the bed was very comfortable; but the cabin is quite small. We weren't able to open any of the windows for some cross breeze, so the cabin was warm -- even with the 2 fans running. All in all, we had a nice 4 day vacation, and were happy we could take our little dog with us. He loved all the new smells and long walks. Would recommend this cabin for a weekend getaway -- but may be tight for a week-long stay.

Convenient Peace

Frank Thanks again for accommodating us on short notice. Your place is so peaceful and yet very close to anything you want or need. That kind of peace and scenery just minutes from an awesome grocery store and any style restaraunt your heart desires. We found there are three lakes within 20 minutes. Just go to the Blowing Rock Visitor Center. This was our second stay and we will be back again. Ever think of selling let us know.

Awesome time in Banner Elk!

We had a really great time during our stay at this cute little cottage. It is close to everything! We went tubing at Hawksnest, hiked all the way up to Calloway Peak via the Profile Trail, checked out Linville Caverns and Linville Falls (beautiful!!), and spent plenty of time in the jacuzzi recovering from all that hiking. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. The only downside is the kitchen... we found it challenging to fit the chef's big cooking brain into such a small space. But it still got the job done.

Peace of Mind

My husband and I rented the cozy cottage for our anniversary weekend and it was a peaceful experience. We did absolutely nothing but lounge around the cottage and enjoy each other's company without the sound of children in the background. It was almost too peaceful the first night. At the end of our stay, I realized it was the first time in a long time that I didn't have to think about anything but relaxing. To my surpise the cottage was exactly as described and pictured by the owner. The owner was great and worked with our family's schedule for arrival and departure times. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time we had at your cottage in Banner Elk! The location was great and we hiked at Grandfather Mountain on day and tubed on the New river the next day. I was surprised at how much there was too do since I usually only think of the mountains for skiing in the winter. The downside is now I've discovered that I'm addicted to gem mining! This is a great value for a couple or small family. We looking forward to planning to coming back.

this cabin is exactly as pictured on the website. it is a nice place with a hot tub. the "view" is of the pond out front but the highway is also out front (500 yards away with trees in front), but it really didn't detract that much. the directions to get to the cabin were wrong and so we spent 15 extra minutes trying to figure it out. the lockbox was also a huge hassle to get open. the road was icy when we arrived and our car almost slid into a ditch so be wary. the roads were deiced in the morning for us.
