Description of the Bar Harbor vacation cottage rental

DESCRIPTION: If Martha Stewart liked to camp, this is the place she'd choose. Very simple, rustic cedar cottage, quaintly decorated and with all of the "comforts of home," new beds and new appliances (range, dryer & dishwasher). LAYOUT: Large living room/dining/kitchen with Franklin stove. Two bedrooms (master with a queen, second bedroom with two twin beds.) Full bath with stall shower only and laundry room. House has a very private location with a large deck, which is ideal for bird and boat watching. View is spectacular. The cottage overlooks the marsh, where blue heron and egrets fish, then straight out to the ocean, where you can watch the Swan's Island Ferry, yachts and sailboats cross. Cottage is rustic (some sloping floors), but charming and immaculate.

Property is adjacent to Back Beach (beach access!) and walking distance from Thurston's Lobster Pier, the town dock, the Tremont Library and Post Office, and Bernard antique and book stores. The "Island Explorer" bus, a free, natural-gas bus which runs over the whole island stops just up the road from the house--a free, convenient way to see the island. The cottage on Mt. Desert Island and is within a short driving distance to many fine restaurants, Southwest Harbor (approx. 4 miles away), Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain, Echo Lake, and Bar Harbor. Approximately 25 miles from Ellsworth, where there is shopping and an LL Bean outlet. The nearby town of Southwest Harbor has a library with wireless Internet access, a post office, banks with ATM machines, medical centers, a wine & cheese shop, hardware store, specialty market, grocery store, drug store, many restaurants, an ice cream shop, and many other fine shops. Three gas station/convenience stores within a 3 mile radius. Close to Bass Harbor Lighthouse.

Mariner's Crossing is a beautiful, private little cottage on the "quiet side" of lovely Mount Desert Island. The view of the ocean from the porch was stunning--it's lovely to wake up in the morning and look at the view through the kitchen window while making breakfast, and enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the ferry cross to Swan's Island or the herons fishing in the marsh. The house is simple and quaint, but extremely charming and a fantastic place to relax. The house was clean, nicely furnished, and complete with all modern amenities. All in all, a wonderful vacation!
