Description of the Barre vacation chalet rental

Seasonal chalet available in small New England town located 22 miles northwest of Worcester, Massachusetts adjacent to 22,000 acres of state-owned watershed area. Miles of hiking as well as two pools (one for children;one Olympic size) on site of the gated community make this cabin a true retreat from the city.

The chalet itself is two floors with a loft bedroom complete with queen size bed and full bath. The downstairs great room has with bathroom that includes a shower as well as a galley kitchen. The futon sofa opens to become a double size bed. The kitchen is complete with microwave and coffee pot, dishes, and silverware. Small television with DVD and VCR available along with some 50 videos and dvds.

The downstairs is approximately 600 square feet and the upstairs about 350 square feet.

The chalet has been remodeled in 2007-2008 with new carpet, windows, and siding. A barbecue is available on site as well as a picnic table and parking for three cars.

The chalet is located at Coldbrook Resort. Laundry facilities and a small general store are located on-site by the two pools. Horseback riding is available at an equestrian center within 3 miles. Miles and miles of country roads and trails are within walking distance.

The town itself houses the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies and the Insight Meditation Center and possesses one of the most beautiful commons in New England. The picture perfect town center looks straight out of a Yankee magazine -- and has been featured several times on the cover. There is a public library, several restaurants, and a yoga studio in town.

Other small towns in the area offer hours of antique hunting, swimming, hiking and boating. The town is located to the east of the Quabbin reservoir with opportunities for fishing, hiking and biking.

Spectacular fall colors greet visitors as the town is located just south of the Mohawk Trail.

Old Sturbridge Village is located 45 minutes south of Barre. Other places of interest within an hour's drive include Emily Dickinson's home in Amherst, Worcester's Museum of Art and Higgins Armory Museum, the Brookfield apple orchards,and Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire.

The famous antique flea market held three times a year in the town of Brimfield is just 45 minutes away by country roads!

This is the ideal location for a single person and/or couple to spend time enjoying the quiet joys of country life in a lovely country setting. No phone or internet access except at the local library.

The game room at resort is available as well as sports television in the clubhouse.

Camping for tent campers and recreational vehicles is also available in another section of the resort so weekly activities are posted at the clubhouse for all residents. Bocci ball is a favorite among campers as well as volleyball.
