Welcome to Oceanfront Retreat in Bernard Maine. Bar Harbor is 15 minutes away, if you still need that part of the island..Bernard is the quiet side where the real downeast Maine begins or ends...Wake up each morning to the lobster men coming and going...watch the daily routines of the harbor and the seals. Walk to the famous Thurstons restaurant if desired or just hang out in the back yard on the decks overlooking the harbor and ocean..
Curl up at night by the fireplace and read a favorite book, after an active day of kayaking, biking or hiking. Bass Harbor light house is just a 10 minute paddle away or you can go by car in about 5 minutes.
Welcome home to real downeast Maine and bring the dog!
This home is right on the ocean, with steps going right down to the oocean. Bring your kayak and paddle right from the house. Please be aware of the lobstemen and women - this is their harbor and kayak away from the wharf and boats.
Please call for 2010 and 2011 weeks open, only 2 weeks in fall left for 2009.

Lighthouses, lobstermen, yachts, kayaking and Bar Harbor offer a truly downeast Maine experience. Bernard is a quanitn town on the quiet side of the island, so if you desire not to be in the middle of the shopping and souvenires then this is the spot for you...if you need a shopping splurge then Bar Harbor is 10 minutes away.. Southwest is only 5 minutes away
Acadia National Park surrounds you here at this loccation, just hike, bike or paddle your way around.
