Through the central hallway is a large bath with clawfoot tub / shower and lots of storage. The hallway leads to a large comfortable living room (including fold out double) with windows on three sides, perfect for lounging and entertaining. Several bookshelves loaded with good reading material . This historic village of Bayside was created in the 19th Century as a Wesleyan summer campground. Mermaid - one of Bayside Cottage Rentals most recently renovated cottages- is just one of about 300 original Victorian cottages. These gingerbread cottages outline three pretty little parks all open to the waterfront. Come take a summer yoga class, sailing lessons, golf, kayak, read, scour the beach for sea glass, shoot a few baskets, swing on the swing set, play monopoly, sleep , rest and restore.

We've vacationed in Maine for about the last ten years and this was our first stay at Bayside. Margaret was a huge help in helping us select Nightingale and it ended up being the perfect place for us - two adults and two kids. The house felt great as soon as we entered - nice kitchen where we hosted a couple gatherings, nice, bright master bedroom, and a fun little room for the kids. We sat on the porch. We played in the yard. We walked all around Bayside several times a day from this great location in the middle of everything. We're going back to Bayside but will need a bigger place this year. I highly recommend Nightingale for a family with small kids.

We spent a lovely week at a cottage in Bayside. Our daughter met friends and played in the park each evening. We had everything we needed in the cottage. The location was perfect for exploring the Maine coast.

The cottage was all that we hoped for and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bayside is well located along the coast with easy access to Camden and Acadia where we spent several days. The hosts were most accommodating and were very prompt in responding to questions and other minor issues. It is a great place for kids of all ages and the people in the village are very friendly. As newcomers we met several of our neighbors.
