Description of the Beals vacation cottage rental

Island Retreat On Pomp Island off of Jonesport and Beals Maine

Live in a log cabin home on a 37 acre island with only occasional a fisherman or kayaker passing by. You can enjoy solitude and the wonders of nature while exploring the ocean, rocky shores, and woods. Sea birds, seals, deer, and lobstermen are plentiful. Bring your small boat (mooring available) or kayak to explore the many unique neighboring small islands, inlets and coves. Great Wass island with it’s nature preserve is near by as is the fishing village on Beals island. The town of Jonesport is just across Moosabec Reach where you can arrange a boat trip to see Puffins living off shore. Living is simple with gas lights, stove and refrigerator, no electricity. Cell phone reception is good. If needed we can provide the boat rides to and from the island.

Area Information

Pomp Island is about an hour north of Acadia National Park in "Down East" Maine. It is accessed from the mainland at Jonesport by bridge to Beals Island and then by a 10 minute boat ride. The Island is offshore about a half a mile and is surrounded by many other small islands. Each island is unique, many are not inhabited, and so are open for exploration. This area is a haven for kayakers, boaters, and nature lovers who enjoy some comforts but also the experience of living away from the hub bub of everyday life.
