Place was great. Spring skiing at its best. 50 degrees and fresh snow. House was comfortable and rooms were a good size for a mountain house. Had trouble finding it at night, but the owner was very helpful in directing us. If there is going to be snow and ice I'd suggest 4 wheel drive, not just to get to this house, but to get around the Beech Mtn area. Sign on the road up the mountain says "chains for sale", and I can see that after or during a storm you would need those. We had a good time and will be back.

A wonderful little place with good amenities, nice decor. It's very close to the resort (with a couple of restaurants) and a short drive to the town of Beech Mt, plus the fishing there on the mountain (my focus!) The drive into Banner Elk and more fishing (Elk River) is also not bad. The place was nice and clean, comfortable, appliances all worked fine, and it had wireless internet too! You can also take advantage of the swimming pool, golf, and club-house that are part of the resort/club, but with a fee (i.e., $5/person/day for the pool), though I did not.

The cabin was very well situated at walking distance to Ski Beech which was great when the road got icy. It was a nice and cozy cabin and the 4 of us were very comfortable. Minor things needs maintenance. Such as the hot water in the shower. The first 2 people bathed with hot water but then we had to wait before the other 2 could shower. The remote control in the living room was not working and my opinion is that the DVD player should be in the living room instead of the bedroom. The toilet in the main entrance bathroom got clogged the first day and wouldn't flush but after using the plunger we did not have any further problems. The only negative I would mention is that when we arrived the house was not ready for our stay. The beds were unmade with the sheets on top of it and the towels were all in the shower. I had to put to wash the towels and sheets and make up the beds and hang the towels. I also went ahead and cleaned both bathrooms. Thank GOD there was cleaning products under the kitchen sink. I did call the owner when we arrived and she was a bit confused because she had notified her cleaning person to come in and have the cabin ready. She offered to give them a call and I said that I would take care of it. We had just arrived and we wanted to chill before hitting the road again. So it was easier and faster if I did it. Besides this mishap I must say we had a wonderful time after that 1st day. It rained at night and in the morning we had snow. We were able to go to the slopes and enjoy skiing and snowboarding in both the Appalachians Mtns. and Ski Beech at night. I will most probably be using vacation home rentals website in the future.
