The cabin was wonderful - well stocked, clean and great location. We would definitely return in the future.
June 20, 2011
PROS: -It is near EVERYTHING. It was only a few minutes (if that) to everywhere we went in Big Bear -Very quiet neighborhood -Comfy beds, which can be hard to come by in Big Bear -Cozy -Plenty of blankets, pillows, etc CONS: -It is smaller than you think by the pics -We didn't have coffee, creamer, popcorn, etc extras that are listed. Just the standard spices and such. Had to make a mad dash in the morning for our coffee lol -Some movies had cases but no DVD -They say sledding in winter across the street...I would never let anyone sled there. WAY too many trees, no clear path -It says wheelchair accessible, having a husband w/Multiple Sclerosis (thankfully not wheelchair bound) I'm not exactly sure where/how it is accessible. Other than MAYBE going thru the gate in the back around to the back door, but there is a small step, uneven ground and a small door way -There was still dog poo on the ground from previous people I assume -It says gas BBQ gas provided in summer months, but no propane. June is a summer month, so not sure why it wasn't there -The picture of the view of the lake is exactly your view of the lake. Not sure why they said pic doesn't do justice. -Not wireless internet, bring your longer CAT5 cable if you want to use a laptop on the couch, otherwise you are stuck at a very small table with very uncomfortable stools to sit on -Bring your own PSII games, the ones there are very scratched and not playable Overall, our stay was OK. We would maybe stay there again (non-peak season), just had higher expectations due to the pictures and descriptions given. When we first arrived, we drove past it initially and when we realized that was it, there was a pause for a few seconds as we drove in. The car port is VERY narrow, we have a Camry and couldn't use it. I wouldn't stay here during peak season for the pricing, you could probably find a much bigger/nicer cabin for the same price. People previously said the owner/agent made sure everything was ok with their stay, I never heard anything from her before/during/after our stay. I only heard from her a few months prior when we booked the property. When we called the same week to check about early check-in (as she indicated for us to do) she was kind of short with us. Must have caught her at a busy time.

We were very pleased with Black Diamond Lodge. Everything that was described online was available to us when we got there. Theresa is very helpful. If you have a question or need to reach her, she is just a phone call away and is always there to help. The best part of the cabin was the huge fully fenced yard for our dog. We will definitely be returning for Winter 2012!!

After several disappointing cabin rentals over the years, we hit the jackpot with this location. Conveniently located near everything. Cabin is as described with nice wood and slate floors for easy snow clean up! Theresa is most accomodating and follows up to make sure all is well, even during snow storm. Can't ask for more than that. We will be rent this cabin again.

The only bad part about this home is having to leave it! It was clean, decorated great and fully stocked with kitchen accessories. We would've loved to have Christmas as this home but it was booked. It screamed cozy fires, wine and long naps!!!! We can't wait to go back!

My friend and I just spent a week in this vacation home. It was perfect. The home was clean and neat. What we really liked was the large backyard for the dogs and the fact that we could bring them and not have to kennel them. They enjoyed the vacation as much as we did. The last time we rented a place in Big Bear we discovered mice and of course mice droppings. This home was clean and free of rodents. We will definitely vacation here again! Linda S.

When I lived in LA I went to Big Bear every year for Oktoberfest and a few times during the summer to get away from the city. I stayed at the Black Diamond Lodge on my final visit to Big Bear and not only was it the least expensive place I had visited, it was by far the nicest. The cabinets were stocked with just about every kind of spice and warm drink mix you could imagine. The thing that stuck out the most - as weird as this sounds - was that I had the best shower of my life in that cabin. The water was the cleanest I've ever felt and the pressure was absurd (in a good way). Thank you for providing such a fantastic location. I'm a fan on facebook and I'll be out again for Oktoberfest this year. I hope I can get get a space before you are all booked up.

We stayed here on memorial weekend. It was my families first time up to Big Bear. The weather was great and the peacefulness was so nice and serene. The cabin was everything said to be and it fit our family of 5 adults and two small chldren just fine. The playstation did not work when we got there, but that didnt stop the children from having fun. They enjoyed playing in the backyard and making smores in the fireplace. The kitchen was nice and was fully stocked with kitchen items. All the kithchen items were all used for baking and cooking. We did not find a wine bottle opener in which one was needed for our stay. We were also in need of some trash bags but we went and bought some at stator brothers while we went and bought groceries aswell for our stay. We didnt have a chance to use the bbq provided because my husband said that the propane was loose. The master bathroom's heater works great! Bedrooms are comfortable. The home offers many dvds to watch and is close to the movies, shops, restaurants and fishing! The kids loved the big bear zoo in which we met rescued animals and birds...its great you gotta take your kids here! We also did the pirate adventure tour boat. And rented a platoon boat for the whole family and had a picnic and fished out on the lake one day! Overall we had a great time. We will definetly return. We have recommended renting from Theresa to our family and friends so that they may enjoy this expereince aswell. Thankyou Theresa!

We had a very nice time. Beautiful weather with plenty of snow on the ground. The cabin was clean, the couch is worn, a broken tile in entry way. Missed not having a Barbeque. The water heater went out, fortunately we were able to restart it without calling anyone. Directions listed on the website need some work... Printed a map quest and found it fairly easy. Recommend bringing some plastic garbage bags. Beautiful view.

This was our first Winter trip to Big Bear and the cabin we rented was beyond our expectations. It was so welcoming & cozy and the perfect amount of space for all of us. The enclosed backyard was perfect for my 3 year old grand daughter and being able to go across the street to sled was also great. The cabin was perfectly stocked with games, DVD's, hot chocolate, coffee, spices, cooking items. Theresa was so great to work with, answered all our questions and gave us plenty of information with things to do and discount tickets. We look forward to making this our new annual winter trip. The grand kids said they would rather come back here than go to Mammoth! Thank you again Theresa.

Wow! We had an awesome time at your cabin! There was so much snow it was hard to find it from the street. If we went back in the summer I don't think we'd recognize it. Our kids had a fabulous time playing out in the snow, and making smores by the fireplace at night. The cabin is very well kept, clean and cozy!! Our oldest son missed out because he had finals at school and had to stay home, but he is planning on going next time to check out the snowboarding! We can't wait to go back!

We had such a wonderful time in this cabin. We stayed at another nice place last year, but we enjoyed this cabin much more. The location is great. It is close to everything. It has a flat driveway with carport which is very important! We were nice and cozy during the 30 year storm. We celebrated our daughters fifth birthday while we were there. She loved it and didn't want to leave. She skied for the first time and we all went sleding just across the street from the cabin. It was great and we shall return. We just loved it! Thank you for sharing your home and for taking such good care of us during our stay.
January 26, 2010
We had a ok visit this time in Big Bear> We ran into alot of issues with our rental office. They were not answering the phone when we were stuck in our car in front of the property that was overwhelmed with snow and no one to help us remove the snow. The owner of the establishment was very rude to some of the people getting to the office. the both families that were there were telling me to be careful with this company because they would rip me off if they could not giving them what they had paid for and asking the to leave the office by screaming at them and telling them that he was tired to dealing with them. That made me feel so little and unhelped. Wishing that he would of acted different. I hate so say but sounded very unprofessional.

The cabin was very cozy and beautiful! We all loved it. It was only steps away from the lake which was so nice to see.

We booked the cabin over a year ago for our Christmas vacation. Trying to find a property with a fully enclosed yard was most important for our two dogs, and we were not disappointed! Theresa arranged everything perfectly for us, the wood was all there, chopped up, ready to go (bring an axe to chop smaller for the fire), the Christmas tree was up and lit in the corner! We had a revolving door of guest throughout our stay, and Theresa made sure we had clean sheets and towels for our changeover :-) We really couldn't have asked for more! If you are going to stay in and cook, which is what we did for the entire stay, I suggest bringing a better potato peeler, and a kettle - instead of boiling water on the stove in a saucepan. The dogs had a great time, and were able to roam happily in the back yard, and were tormented by the squirrels every morning as they looked to the front. Their favorite spot was in front of the constant fire we had going. We will be back to stay at Black Diamond, and I have recommended it to friends who also have dogs as a very friendly place to stay. Theresa checked in on us during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed, made us feel very welcome. You'll not find a better cabin, this isn't our first time renting in Big Bear, but it will be the first property we return too. Thank you for making our Christmas holiday so special!

My family and I found your accommodations excellent. You had provided a location and atomosphere of family during the Thanksgiving holiday. The proximity of Big Bear Lake, and being far enough off the main highway provided the quietness of the wilderness and on top of that, getting to experience the first snow of the season. Needless to say the snow cap off one of the best Thanksgiving holidays I have ever experienced. I want to thank you again for a wonderful and fabulous weekend.

Our stay there was wonderful, the cabin was so so cozy and perfect, exactly what we were looking for and without any hassle as far as booking and check in/check out! The price was amazing too! We had the best honeymoon at this awesome cabin. It was my first time in Big Bear and we had a blast. The house was comfortable and very clean (which I am super picky about), Theresa left flowers, champagne, and plenty of firewood for us, and was available to take our calls to answer all of our questions before during and after our stay. We loved Big Bear Lake and we will definitely return, and I can't imagine staying anywhere but Black Diamond. Thank you again Theresa for helping us have such a special honeymoon.

We just returned from 3 wonderful days at Theresa's cozy cabin. My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to take our daughter and her family to rest after completing her chemo therapy for breast cancer. Black Diamond Lodge was the perfect choice. We went for walks, took the kids fishing and just enjoyed each others company. The attention to detail was very much appreciated. The cabin was clean and very roomy. The bathrooms were large with great showers. My only suggestion would be a few more towels. What a suprise the kitchen was. Stocked with spices, coffee, hot chocolate, and popcorn. Everything we needed and more. The DVD collection, the game table, internet connection, and 3 TV's kept everyone (including 4 young children)happy. My dog ,who was a last minute addition, loved the fenced yard, as did the kids. We are already planning a return trip. Thanks for a great time!

Very comfortable retreat for our family of 5. We had plenty of snow during our stay, and the big yard and quiet street were great for my kids. Wow is the only word that comes to mind when we think of our Christmas stay at the Black Diamond Lodge. We had such a great time. The whole family was able to get together and share a white Christmas. The cabin is beautiful. The cabinets were stocked with all the essentials. The fireplace was a great gathering place. The ski slopes were so close. My son and his friends were able to get in 2 days of snowboarding. We plan on making Big Bear a Christmas tradition from now on. Thanks Bensons for creating a a wonderful memory.

Just came back from Halloween weekend in Big Bear. We stayed at the Black Diamond Lodge and had a very relaxing time. The cabin is warm and clean and very cozzy. Very dog friendly. We were happy to have the fenced in yard and our dogs loved the freedom. We had some stormy weather and were very happy to be able to sit by the fire and listen to the rain. Over all I'd say we had a great experience and we're looking forward to coming back and spending more time in the peaceful woods. The owners were extremely accommodating and made themselves available to answer all our questions. Thanks for providing a great space to relax and recharge.

My family- (husband, wife, our 3 boys and our golden retriever) just returned from this cabin at Big Bear- we had a GREAT time. The cabin is on a very quiet street in a nice neighborhood- perfect for long walks. The weather was PERFECT- we actually saw the colors of many trees change ( autumn) during our stay. We ate on the front porch every night and enjoyed the nice view. Lots of room in the back for our dog to run around. Cabin was homey & comfortable- not too fancy with 3 boys so worked well for us. Tons of blankets and pillows to keep everyone warm at night. We would certainly stay here again. Thanks you!

The cabin exceeded our expectations and we had a great time. It is close to the village and the ski resorts and is located on a very quiet street near the lake. It is the perfect place for a family or small group of friends to have a retreat...including a fenced in backyard for the dog. The kitchen was nicely equipped and the living room and bedrooms were comfortably furnished. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Theresa, your cabin was wonderful! My family and I spend 5 nights there with our dogs and had the best time. Your cabin was very homey, everything you could expect from a mountain cabin. It took us no time to get settled in an it felt like we were right at home. The fireplace was the center of all activities, I think our dogs liked it the best..warming their bellies! We will definitely be planning another trip! Thanks!

We had a wonderful stay at Black Diamond Lodge. We were there during the end of September, and minus the freak storm that passed, we had a blast. The kitchen was great and had tons of room to make some great food. The jacuzzi was great and the game room was fun during the evenings with our friends. We enjoyed coming up the the lodge and having a great time with friends and family. Thanks for the great stay, we will come again soon!

Well it has been exactly one week since we left Black Diamond Lodge and I have been going through withdrawals! We were there for one month and treasured every minute. I read 6 Novels almost entirely on the front deck! After picking up some wild bird feed and filling the Lodge's feeders we were treated to many beautiful BlueJays, Woodpeckers, Red Winged Black birds, Chickadees as well as Chipmunks and Grey Squirrels. Not only was the bird watching fun for the human guests but Lizzie our Yellow Lab was kept busy for hours! This was the first of our 9 years coming to Big Bear Lake for the summer that we found a place to stay that met the whole families needs. The kitchen had everything we needed including a dishwasher! Not only did the two bathrooms have great water pressure, but we never ran out of hot water! The fireplace was dreamy, it did get cool enough a few times to fire it up. The fact that there was a play station for our daughter was a plus. We loved watching movies from your extensive DVD library. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed playing cards at the dining room table and my husband was actually able to work, thanks to the Cabin having high speed Internet access. We can hardly wait to come back next year to ride our bikes to Blanca and Pierres for the best burgers! Every time friends came over they would look around and say," How did you find such a cute place? - its adorable". Thank you for having us! The Flanagan Family.

Theresa, THANK YOU for this amazing cabin getaway!! My family had a great time fishing and exploring Big Bear. The fishing was great we caught in the 8 days we stayed over 30 trout! The location at the lake was perfect for the kids and us to take walks with the dogs in the evening. This cabin was everything as promised and described. I will tell our friends and family about this great cabin on the lake. Your hospitality is evident in the warm atmosphere you provide for your guests. We will be back!! Mike

Thanks for the email follow-up. It shows you really care about your cabin rental business. It was a pleasure doing business with you! We had a wonderful weekend. The cabin is very comfortable, in a beautiful location and was perfect for the dogs. We have rented houses in many areas over the years…Hawaii, Cayman Islands, Balboa Island, Rome, Florence, Carmel...and your house was right up there as one of the best outfitted, which always makes for a much more comfortable stay.

Hi Theresa - Thank you so much! The cabin had everything we needed...comfy beds, stocked kitchen, soft linens, Internet access, and the list goes on! We typically stay in hotels when we travel, but this was so much better! We could spread out all our stuff, make meals in the gourmet kitchen, and just unwind in front of the fire with a big bowl of popcorn. And my six year old daughter fell in love with the chubby squirrels that live in the big tree out front. We will definitely be back!! Take care - Meredith Manning

Hi Theresa, My family and I loved our stay at the cabin we certainly will come back! We appreciated everything being ready for us for Christmas - the tree was lovely and of course the fireplace added a lot for us seeing as we are from Hawaii! Hey thanks for having it snow - that was awesome! Kate

Our stay was lovely and the cabin is absolutely gorgeous. Definitely the type of place I would like. I really like the one story as well. We have been going up to Big Bear for over 14 years, staying mostly at the same place for the past 3, but needed bigger space this time, so we were a little nervous.... but very pleased, the cabin is lovely. This was our first attempt at taking our two labradors (ages 8 months and 9 months) and the cabin is definitely dog friendly. I would definitely recommend Black Diamond Lodge to friends and family!

Our stay was absolutly marvelous!! This cabin has treated us very well. It was cozy and comfortable and at the same time very convienent. Very quiet neighborhood and awesome location right next to the lake. I'll be planning on coming back to the same cabin if all goes well next winter and maybe even in the summer!

We had a great girls weekend in this beautiful cabin in Big Bear. We had a special request for martini glasses and mixer and it was provided. All six of us got to relax have a martini or two, take a walk by the lake and watch a great selection of movies. Popcorn, coco and candy was available to us also. This is a great place. We will let friends know about this place.
