Two families--4 adults and kids--came up for MLK holiday to enjoy some snow and sledding. Kanodia Lakeview is ALL what you're looking for! The pictures online is what you get! Yes! The cabin is meticulously clean, well organized, and it has all the amenities you need, especially when you have small children! The cabin offers a fully remodel kitchen with ALL the amenities and spice rack; w/d; towels, first aid kits; hair dryer; lotions; shampoo; iphone/ipod docks; great collection of records and record player; comfortable couches and even an extra aerobed for extra guests! It was sooooo comfortable and relaxing, my kids are excited for another trip to Big Bear! We especially appreciated the location of the cabin, too--right off the lake, 10 minutes (lots of traffic due to MLK weekend) from town, and 5 mins from Alpine Slopes where families can sled ALL day! Kids had a wonderful time at some nearby hills sledding, but especially enjoyed the time at the cabin where in the back yard offered ample space to play and have fun with the snow! The little touches especially made MY trip comfortable, such as the washer/dryer, boot tray, phone charging docks, cable tv, backyard bbq grill, children's book collection and reading table for the kids! We TRULY enjoyed staying at Kanodia Lakeview! We've been to many not-so nice, in fact, down-right nasty places in Big Bear, so staying at Kanodia Lakeview was a dream!!!! Kudos to the owner, Laura, for doing such a wonderful job remodeling and decorating the cabin! She was incredibly nice and courteous! Thank you, Laura!

A wonderful experience

January 23, 2013

Our family stayed at this cabin with another family, and we were truly impressed with cleanliness, the comfort, the location, and the ambience of this rental cabin. First, the premises are very clean, which makes everyone feel a little more at ease. There is plenty of room for boots and jackets. You can tell that the owner has plenty of experience in a winter environment and has made it easy for people to get in and out of the cabin with ease. The bathrooms and showers were also clean, and as anyone with travel experience will tell you, one can never feel comfortable if the bathrooms are not clean! The kitchen area is also great. It's clean and relatively large considering the overall size of the cabin. The dining table comfortably seats 7, and there are plenty of dishes and utensils. We could tell the owner put a lot of thought and care into the kitchen. Not only is it well furnished, but there are small touches, like hot chocolate and a spice rack that makes one feel "at home." Another part of the house that we appreciated was the living room, which had two comfortable couches. I have to admit, it was my favorite place to collapse after a warm dinner. The bedrooms were also very nicely appointed. The beds were comfortable and supportive. My wife and I probably appreciated the little things that made the cabin so cozy and inviting. For example, throughout the house, there were Iphone / Ipod chargers / clocks / speakers that we took full advantage of. In addition, the owner also has some basic but working sleds that our kids had a blast using. Finally, the location was great. The cabin wasn't too far away from the main road, but it was far enough so that we didn't have to deal with the road noise and annoying traffic. All in all, we had a wonderful experience, and would definitely recommend this rental to others.

Beautiful Home, Awesome Location!

January 8, 2013

We had a great family get-a-way ski weekend to Big Bear at this cabin. Super clean and beautifully decorated! It was a pleasure being inside the cabin while our kids played in the snow. Close to dining, skiing, and stores, we can't wait to come back. Thanks for letting us stay in your home!

Perfect Cabin and Great Owners!

January 4, 2013

The cabin is in fantastic condition with a substantial remodel in 2012 to great modern decor. A great attention to detail was paid to making sure everything a family would need is readily available. From the smallest items like iPOD speakers throughout the house to the smallest kitchen tool. Everything has been well thought out. I especially liked the welcome package and the distance to Snow Summit. The owner's are very responsive and just good people. They are so awesome they have a great classic 60,70,80's vinyl record collection to enjoy as well. Says a lot about the thoughtfulness and the my house is your house philosophy they have.

Awesome Getaway!

January 3, 2013

5 of us (2 couples and 1 single) came up for 3 days around NYE. Previous to our arrival it had been a pleasure dealing with Laura the owner, she is super helpful, communicative, and accommodating. The place is exactly as described, awesome! It's cozy, well kept, remodeled nicely, and stocked full of anything you'd possibly need. That is a big bonus for a vacation home, as it's a total pain to figure out if you have to bring paper towels, salt, linens, whatever- This place has everything, so no worries! The kitchen is well laid out, easy to cook and dine in. There are two decent sized rooms upstairs with nice king beds, and they share a nice bathroom. Our single friend slept downstairs on the pullout couch and was totally comfortable. Only issue to be aware of, is that the cabin is not insulated well for sound, so especially in the room above the living area, you can hear everything below you if people are still up when you go to bed. There was a fan in the closet, so we put it on the floor to drown out the noise, and we slept well. The house is just steps from the lake, which is great, and closest to the west side of the lake, which is the more charming in my opinion. The west side feels more rural and away from the masses. All said and done, great stay and we will def come back!

Great place for Families with Kids!

December 3, 2012

What a great little weekend trip! Our family of four (kids 4 & 7) stayed with another family of four (kids 3 & 6) in this great little house near the lake and had a FANTASTIC time! We went up there for the snow, and although we didn't get any that weekend, we weren't disappointed...First, Laura was both kind and quick about answering the many questions we had including activities she would recommend. When we arrived, we were blown away by the details put in such a great place --from the bedding to a great working kitchen and all the iPhone/iPod hookups and other tech-savvy amenities-- it provided the 'luxery' of a hotel with the feel of a home. The location of the home was also ideal. Although there was lots to do, it was nice that we could walk to the lake where the kids happily fed the ducks there (it was also the one thing they kept asking about when we left...'can we go back and feed the ducks?'...forgot to mention, there's a family of 'ducks' -not sure if that's what they're called, as they were much smaller than the Mallards --living underneath the lower balcony and the kids got a kick out of watching them walk to the lake when we arrived) It was also located on a secluded cul de sac street, and although we seemed to be the only residents there at the time, it was nice to know that if it was busy, the kids could've played outside in front of the house without having to worry about cars. Although there were only two rooms, they both were very spacious. We brought our own inflatable bed for the kids which fit comfortably in the master (rearranged the sitting chairs and table just a bit), but we had no idea there were two in the closet just in case! Not sure if our friends used the one there, but they loved their room as well! Since we cooked all of our meals at the house, it was also nice to see she had so many tools to make cooking a breeze! Very much appreciated Laura! It was a fantastic trip...and a lot of it had to do with your accomadating manner and your FANTASTIC home. We'll definitely be planning trips in the near future! :)

Awesome Cabin by the Lake

October 14, 2012

This is the best vacation rental ever. Laura the owner, was so easy to connect with, everything was so perfectly organized, it made our arrival and departure a breeze. The cabin is beautifully decorated, we even ended up asking her for some decorating tips for our own home (which she so gladly gave us the info). The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen which made cooking during vacation actually enjoyable. My 13 yr. old daughter loved having her own room and enjoyed playing her music on the ipod dock, and my 2 year old enjoyed the little bench in the kitchen that was just her size and stocked with kiddie books. The beds were so comfortable as well as the linens, everything was top of the line. We will definitely come back and stay.

Meticulous Attention To Detail

September 11, 2012

We put our Labor Day get away trip together in just a few hours and were incredibly fortunate to locate this cabin. I have been going to Big Bear for 30 years and this cabin is by far the most well appointed and meticulously maintained cabin I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. I am a guy who normally pays little attention to such things but even I could not overlook the details. All of the amenities were top notch and the little things were exceptionally well considered. The sheets, linens and comforters are not of the typical "rental cabin" quality but consistent with what we have in our home, in fact the entire place feels like a home and not a rental. The owners are very responsive, accessible and genuinely interested in ensuring your stay to this cabin and to Big Bear is enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Cabin at the Lake

September 3, 2012

It is a very well maintained and cozy cabin. Beautifully decorated and clean throughout the whole cabin. It's a home away from home which has everything you need and close to everything. My husband and I with 2 young kids sleep comfortably in their two bedrooms. The owner Laura was very prompt upon check-in and out as well as answering all my questions. We will definitely stay there again the next time we go to Big Bear again. Thanks Laura!!

My family and I went to two different cabins , we were lucky to go to this one second, it was not only resort like , but home like at the same time. The attention to detail from the owners made us feel welcome without them there. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away from the husle and busle of the city.......It felt like staying at one of those show homes with all the upgrades, you know before buying a home.Thank you for all the Great memories created there, I love to cook and this place had all I needed to create those perfect dinners that my family will always remember.....years from now....Cant wait to go back.

Amazing Weekend Getaway

August 8, 2012

This cabin is beautiful! Everything is extremely modern and up-to-date, not to mention spotless. The owner answered all my questions before I even had any with their pre-arrival documents and made themselves available to me if I had any more questions at any time. I went with 2 of my girlfriends and it was the most relaxing weekend ever! Situated right near the lake, the scenery is beautiful. We walked near the lake for a little bit and the views of the mountain are amazing. We had a hike planned that was detered by some thunderstorms unfortunately. With a fully-stocked (literally anything you could think of needing, including a pizza pan!) kitchen large enough for entertaining, we could've had an amazing dinner party. We walked up the road to The Log Cabin for an amazing breakfast and the spiciest bloody mary's ever! A convenience store was a short walk up away in case we forgot anything at the Vons that was a few miles away. We were never in need of anything, and had an amazing time. I would definitely come back to this beautiful cabin and recommend it to my friends.

My expectations were simply surpassed at this property. EVERYTHING you could ever want in a home-away-from-home vacation rental was thought of by these detailed, conscientious property owners! From amazing designer decorating touches to a basket of brochures detailing activities & restaurants in the area to the perfectly stocked kitchen and bathrooms! The home is clean, fully stocked, cozy and beautiful. We were looking for a relaxing getaway and this place delivered as it is set among pine trees, with lake views, comfortable beds, beautiful rooms... it was so welcoming that we only left the cabin for a quick walk to Holloway's Marina and a drive to the grocery store... and of course the Alpine Slide. :) We didn't want to leave! The pictures do not capture the magical feeling of this home. We were lucky enough, upon our arrival, to find the next-door neighbor and friends with their instruments (fiddle, violin, banjos, standing base) playing bluegrass and singing. They only played for a short while, but it was so GREAT to hear music and singing wafting through the sounds of the pines blowing in the breeze. Truly MAGICAL! DO NOT miss the opportunity to experience this place. Thank you Laura & Kurt for an amazing experience! We look forward to visiting again.

Cabin Suits All Your Modern Tastes and Needs

July 9, 2012

This cabin was all the photos showed and a little more! Even though there are a few other cabins nearby and across the small road (and it was the 4th of July during our vacation time there) the feel inside this extremely well-appointed and remodeled cabin is comfy, cozy, super clean, and quiet. It was a perfect choice for 4 of us to share some time at a much slower pace. We were close to everything and could cook our own meals, bike, hike and walk on the lake view streets nearby. The owner was so easy to connect with and had everything perfectly organized making arrival and departure a breeze. We would definitely rent again.

Mountain retreat!

June 24, 2012

My two sons and I spent last weekend at this amazing home for a fishing getaway. I can say that the photos, while pleasant do not do this place justice. Everything about the place was fabulous. We loved it, the deck was amazing...just loved to sitting out there in the morning with my kindle and a cup of coffee. You couldn't order better weather. The cabin is wonderfully equiped with everything we needed and is very close to the water so we could walk over and drop our lines in the lake. What an escape. We found the place to be clean and it had all the necessitates we would need or require for a rental. I would rent this location again.

The Lake House

June 23, 2012

This house is a "rocks throw" from the lake and a quick drive to summit and bear mountain. Its spacious with unique architecture, which I quickly fell in love with. There is a big patio and backyard that would have been great to use, unfortunately the weather was a little snowy during our stay. Definetly going to take advantage next time! Interior of the home seemed brand new and the beds/furniture were comfortable. Photos are pretty good, but it's a must see for me. I've recommended this place to a few friends and family already, which is what actually prompted me to write this review. There's a great breakfast spot right next to the neighborhood enterance and a close market for everyday necessities. The owners are great and could definitely describe the location better than I have.

Cabin Rental

June 4, 2012

Honestly hands down one of the best places we’ve stayed in Big Bear. Kanodia Lake View was such a great discovery and it's perfectly set up for people traveling with friends that need their "own" space. The layout is open yet private. You feel connected but not on top of each other. I didn't want to leave ! You, you can't beat the location and price. It was so nice to stay someplace that was instantly comfortable and relaxing – and super clean! The house has everything you need and the kitchen is incredible! Be sure to check around before you go to the grocery store as many of the staples are tucked away in the house and the owner has left for your use. We watched the sunset every night from the lake - the setting is breathtaking. It’s near Alpine Slide, steps from the lake (Metcalf Bay - great for kayaking), a 5 minute walk to Holloway’s Marina and super close to the Village. Be sure to eat at The Himalayan restaurant - amazing food! We highly recommend this home and plan to rent again.

My husband and I wanted to get out of Scottsdale for a few days and found this great cabin located in Big Bear. We were excited to discover the cabin was gorgeous - beautifully decorated, big screen TV's in main room and bedrooms, large kitchen with everything we needed and more. Our cabin sat steps away from the lake and we enjoyed hiking, fishing and walking through the town. Our weekend was perfect and we look forward to coming back again soon.

Wonderful location--cabin is beautiful! Owner Laura has taken great care with this recent purchase and second rental in Big Bear area. Literally, a 100 foot walk to the lake. Every possible amenity you could think of (even bug spray). Huge, updated, modern kitchen. Had such a nice stay, would go back again, in a heartbeat.

Hi Laura, With kids and all together, I haven't been able to write you a thank you letter for a wonderful house and great time that we had there! I just wanted to say how great and beautiful the house was. It has everything that we could possibly need ... (I did wish it had a crib but that's just me). It was very clean and designed with wonderful taste. The kitchen was top-notch and had everything that I don't even have in my house. The dining set and silverware were beautiful and we shared wonderful meals every day we spent there. Again, thank you so much for such a great house!
