Description of the Big Pine Key vacation home rental

This house is located in Long Beach Estates, one of the most private neighborhoods in the Keys. It is a private peninsula that is cushioned by a large beautiful wildlife preserve with deep water access within minutes to Looe Key. This is a spacious, waterfront home on open water, with a deep swimming and fishing channel with quick and easy access to both the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean. It has a 100 foot seawall to accommodate a large boat. It comes with a fish cleaning station and outdoor shower. You can totally escape your worries on Long Beach in a private get-away. Long Beach Drive has a five mile bike path for bicyclists, walkers, and joggers. Relax at the private patio with gas barbecue grill. A peaceful setting that sleeps eight to ten: a king size bed in the master bedroom with a master bath, a queen in the second bedroom, and two twin beds in the third bedroom. The living room has a sleeper sofa and a futon couch for extra with comfortable furniture and view of Coupon Bight. For launching your boat, Dolphin Marina is just across Pine Channel.

Area Information

Big Pine Key, Mile Marker 30, is a unique island. It is home to the famous Key Deer that can be seen roaming freely all over the island. Deep-sea fishing, reef, or flats fishing are some of your many choices. Divers and snorkelers will love Looe Key Reef and swimming at Bahia Honda State Park (voted America’s Best Beach, 1992) nearby at Mile Marker 36. Exciting Key West is only 30 minutes away. Great restaurants can be found from Key West to Marathon.

What a fantastically rich area for wildlife viewing, hiking, biking and wonderful water experiences on a boat or kayak! The Key deer were curious and unafraid to visit (is that good?), the iguanas were frequently visible but much more timid, birding was excellent, snorkeling and viewing the underwater world was adventurous and easy. Big Pine Key offers so much outdoor opportunity. We found this house was very comfortable, spacious and private, clean with a well supplied kitchen. The dock was large enough to moor our boat and still fish/ swim/kayak. The entrance to the channel is a bit tricky but with some boating skills and attention to landmarks very do-able. We had a great week and would consider staying again.

Just look at the photos and you will see how beautiful this location is. Quiet, secluded and comfortable yet close to town. This is the third different house we rented in the Lower Keys area in as many years and our favorite by far. If you love nature this is the place for you. Key Deer in the yard, birds roosting every evening in the mangroves across the water, boating and fishing in the back yard and beautiful sunsets. We also appreciated the fact there were no stairs!!! The owner was very cooperative when we made a special request and communication with her during inital arrangements was easy and pleasant. We plan to return.
