A cottage that's sooo cute!

Description of the Birch Bay vacation cottage rental

Only 2 hours North of Seattle and 45 minutes south of Vancouver B.C., Lora's cottage invites with a white picket fence, painted shutters and a covered front porch. Step inside our vintage Lora's Cottage and you'll find warm fir floors & a tiled woodstove along with original art work on the walls and just the right touches of cottage decor. Plenty of lace adorns old fashioned wood windows that let in Birch Bay sunshine and partial views of the bay that's little more than a stone's throw from the cottage. A modern full kitchen boasts everything you'll need, whether fixing snacks & coffee or a full dinner for your sweetie, close friends or small family. We've added a darling tea cupboard with Stash Tea and a china tea set for four. WiFi, bring your laptop if you must combine work with vacation.

Come nightfall retreat to two bedrooms, one with quality queen memory foam mattress & LCD TV/DVD/VCR above a ratan dresser, the other with quality ratan full bed, done in cottage white with lavendar roses. The bath is complete with extra deep soaking tub, shower and our own custom soaps, shampoo & lotion. Lora's will sleep 6 in a pinch-there's a queen sofabed in the living room.

Lora's has excellent beach access, a couple miles of unobstructed beach-walking/bicycling in Old Birch Bay - the fun part - plus there's private beach via gated footbridge. You'll have to heed the nesting sandpiper's shrill warning as you choose your driftwood log for sitting in the sun and catching the gentle breeze out on the private spit. We also get those wonderful winter storms! Eagles fly and perch within easy sight and sound of the cottage and the Bay. A great place to play, a great place to unwind. Phone & WiFi if you must stay connected. We also have a cozy, additional separate bedroom with Loft bed (full & twin bed) and sofa. Sleeps 2 or 3 additional guests. Ask for price. The map on this site is almost right, we're a lot closer to the beach than it shows.

Our area boasts the safest & warmest tidal waters of the Pacific Northwest as well as the largest sun baked tide flats. Birch Bay has been one of the state's few resort areas for over 100 years. Waterslides, go karts, mini golf & mini train rides are sone of the resort fun close by. Shops & restaurants are within easy walking distance, the beach always at your side. Venture further out from your cottage to the countryside with farms open to the public, small villages with their own themes and festivals. Try Lynden, a true Dutch Treat. And Bellingham's Fairhaven, museums, Mt Baker Theatre and aquarium should keep you busy for a while. Then try whale watching, salmon fishing or kayaking with the most experienced of guides. Then a day trip or two to beautiful Vancouver B.C., Victoria or south to bustling Seattle. And then back again to quaint Lora's where whispers of mellow age relax body & soul.

If you're looking for a variety of activities, our northwest corner of Washington State, next to the Canadian border is considered the most diverse in the state. Birch Bay is a relaxed beach resort haven where you'll find nearby two golf courses ranked tops nationally. Along with Blaine, we are part of an Audubon birding area; eagle perches are within close sight of the cottage. You won't have to leave your front porch to view them. Clamming & crabbing are tops at Birch Bay and you can take a salmon charter or go whale watching. Our beach has miles of sand flats warmed by the sun and the Chamber sponsors annual sandcastle building contests. Birch Bay State Park hosts well attended interpretive programs every weekend in summer, great for adults & children. Both our cottages receive rave comments about special touches we include with your stay. Lora's and Seashell are not your average vacation rentals

An enjoyable, relaxing weekend for all in a beautifully decorated and furnished cottage. The kitchen equipment was just like home. The proximity to the beach was so nice and we were able to enjoy a low tide experience with the delightful tide pools. We would like to stay at this cottage again in the future. The cinnamon rolls were great too!
