Lora's Cottage - 2nd Cottage From the Beach
|Per night:||$129 - $198|
|Per week:||$750 - $1,095|
Only 2 hours North of Seattle and 45 minutes south of Vancouver B.C., Lora's cottage invites with a white picket fence, painted shutters and a covered front porch. Step inside our vintage Lora's Cottage and you'll find warm fir floors & a tiled woodstove along with original art work on the walls and just the right touches of cottage decor. Plenty of lace adorns old fashioned wood windows that let in Birch Bay sunshine and partial views of the bay that's little more than a stone's throw from the cottage. A modern full kitchen boasts everything you'll need, whether fixing snacks & coffee or a full dinner for your sweetie, close friends or small family. We've added a darling tea cupboard Tea and a china tea set for four. WiFi, bring your laptop if you must combine work with vacation.
Come nightfall retreat to two bedrooms, one with quality queen memory foam mattress & LCD TV/DVD/VCR above a ratan dresser, the other with quality ratan full bed, done in cottage white with lavendar roses. The bath is complete with extra deep soaking tub, shower and our own custom soaps, shampoo & lotion. Lora's will sleep 6 in a pinch-there's a queen sofabed in the living room.
Lora's has excellent beach access, a couple miles of unobstructed beach-walking/bicycling in Old Birch Bay - the fun part - plus there's private beach via gated footbridge. You'll have to heed the nesting sandpiper's shrill warning as you choose your driftwood log for sitting in the sun and catching the gentle breeze out on the private spit. We also get those wonderful winter storms! Eagles fly and perch within easy sight and sound of the cottage and the Bay. A great place to play, a great place to unwind. Phone & WiFi if you must stay connected. We also have a cozy, additional separate bedroom with Loft bed (full & twin bed) and sofa. Sleeps 2 or 3 additional guests. Ask for price. The map on this site is almost right, we're a lot closer to the beach than it shows.
Quaint Birch Bay has its own resort features; water slides, shops and restaurants, coffeehouses & the famous "C" Shop, most attractions within walking distance. We're right in the middle of the resort area. Semiahmoo & Loomis Trails golf are nearby & the quaint towns of Bellingham, Lynden & Ferndale invite with museums & theatre. Birch Bay State park & Cascade National park are close with family friendly farms in between. We invite you to see why Birch Bay's been a resort spot for over 100 years!

Like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears -- everything in Seashell Cottage was "just right". It was clean, kitchen had everything, it was not TOO fancy, good for family life. The location was perfect close to, but not on, beach. State park with eagles just down street was a plus. The location was within 15 min of our daughters home so her farm chores could be easily done. She really relaxed and said this vacation was the most unstressed ever for her. Another great activity for us was the Parks and Rec gym on the old air force base. The staff was great and it was perfect for the kids to run around on 2 rainy days, plus the ladies really enjoyed the Zumba class. The wood stove with dry wood available was super nice and the 2 DVD setup worked perfectly. Loved having the piano Beds were great. washer and dryer great. Coffee pot lid is broken on one side so always falls off (forgot to say) Having WIfi accessible free was a plus.

Loved it! The beds were all very comfortable even the pull out couches. The kitchen was very well equipped. The dual head shower in the master bedroom bathroom was a great hit. Lots of towels etc. Only downfall was it was a bit musty and the curtains all need to be washed. We just aired out the house and that took care of the musty smell. The close proximity to the beach and shopping was great also. We will definitely be renting this cottage again.

The cottage looks a little old from the outside, but inside was great. I loved the layout with the convience of having so many places for everyone to sleep. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. It is nice to have 2 bathrooms. The place was clean and comfortable and we are already planning a return trip. It is located near the beach and we did alot of walking. The cinnamon rolls were delivered and they were delicious. The owners are wonderful to work with.

Great place to stay.

We had a group of 9 ladies, all family. Ages ranged from 21-78! This cottage fit us well. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen tools and gadgets. A little small, but oh well! The heated floor in the master bathroom, was really neat! Keep the feets toasty. The cinnamon rolls were HEAVEN! Delish! We plan on heading back there next year. There is so much to see around Bellingham/Ferndale area. Owners were very friendly, and great to work with. They were quick to respond to emails,and phone calls. We will be back! Cozy place!

About:We purchased our two cottages in Birch Bay in 2003 and 2004. We have refurbished and remodeled several homes so we knew we could do the same with these vintage cottages, while keeping their original charm. We like things that are quaint but modern in functionality, so these have the "right" look ...
