Description of the Birch Bay vacation home rental

Seashell cottage exhudes beach ambience whether you plan a holiday gathering or a summer vacation. We're the third cottage from the beach where sunsets can be enjoyed while relaxing in the family room or making dinner in our kitchen that provides more than average prep tools. You will be in the part of the community that says "beach town," So explore and play and then have dinner and treats at within walking distance. Young kids and old "kids" alike will enjoy the old fashioned Candy Shop within easy walking distance as well as Bay Cafe.

Seashell Cottage works extremely well for various groups. We've had crafters, readers, golfers and extended families to name a few. Families with teens enjoy the separate family room which allows that extra bit of privacy without having to retreat to a bedroom. The vaulted master suite is really special with heated, tiled floor and tiled, double head shower in the adjoining 3/4 bath. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have a choice of either king beds or twins. Two queen sleeper sofas are made by American Upholstery. These are upscale, have thick mattresses, no bars underneath, not your standard sleeper sofa. Most rooms in this single story cottage have partial views of the bay, with its low bank beach. The tiled seasonal sunroom leads to the patio with huge Weber grill that will handle all your seafood, steaks and burgers. There's a large, level yard for your games and picnics. Families with young children are welcome here, too. Free internet access. Please ignore the map on this site, it shows us in Blaine. We're just off Birch Bay Dr. (third house) and have lots of privacy!

Area Information

If you haven't discovered Birch Bay, we're just south of the Canadian border in just the right spot for exploration of southern B.C. & the northwest corner of Washington, which includes the San Juans, the Olympic peninsula & Seattle.

Quaint Birch Bay has its own resort features; water slides, shops and restaurants, coffeehouses & the famous "C" Shop, most attractions within walking distance. We're right in the middle of the resort area. Semiahmoo & Loomis Trails golf are nearby & the quaint towns of Bellingham, Lynden & Ferndale invite with museums & theatre. Birch Bay State park & Cascade National park are close with family friendly farms in between. We invite you to see why Birch Bay's been a resort spot for over 100 years!

If you're looking for a variety of activities, our northwest corner of Washington State, next to the Canadian border is considered the most diverse in the state. Birch Bay is a relaxed beach resort haven. Two golf courses, ranked tops nationally are within a short drive. Along with Blaine, we are part of an Audubon birding area; eagle perches are within close sight of the cottage, you'll walk right past them as you walk to the beach. Clamming & crabbing are excellent at Birch Bay, and you can take a salmon charter or go whale watching. Our beach has miles of sand flats warmed by the sun and the Chamber sponsors annual sandcastle building contests. Birch Bay State Park hosts well attended interpretive programs every weekend in summer, great for adults & children. Countryside and farms, small villages and towns, Seattle & Vancouver B.C. are all within easy reach. Both our cottages receive rave comments about special touches we include with your stay. Best Christmas holidays in 22 years

Like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears -- everything in Seashell Cottage was "just right". It was clean, kitchen had everything, it was not TOO fancy, good for family life. The location was perfect close to, but not on, beach. State park with eagles just down street was a plus. The location was within 15 min of our daughters home so her farm chores could be easily done. She really relaxed and said this vacation was the most unstressed ever for her. Another great activity for us was the Parks and Rec gym on the old air force base. The staff was great and it was perfect for the kids to run around on 2 rainy days, plus the ladies really enjoyed the Zumba class. The wood stove with dry wood available was super nice and the 2 DVD setup worked perfectly. Loved having the piano Beds were great. washer and dryer great. Coffee pot lid is broken on one side so always falls off (forgot to say) Having WIfi accessible free was a plus.

Loved it! The beds were all very comfortable even the pull out couches. The kitchen was very well equipped. The dual head shower in the master bedroom bathroom was a great hit. Lots of towels etc. Only downfall was it was a bit musty and the curtains all need to be washed. We just aired out the house and that took care of the musty smell. The close proximity to the beach and shopping was great also. We will definitely be renting this cottage again.

The cottage looks a little old from the outside, but inside was great. I loved the layout with the convience of having so many places for everyone to sleep. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. It is nice to have 2 bathrooms. The place was clean and comfortable and we are already planning a return trip. It is located near the beach and we did alot of walking. The cinnamon rolls were delivered and they were delicious. The owners are wonderful to work with.

We had a group of 9 ladies, all family. Ages ranged from 21-78! This cottage fit us well. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen tools and gadgets. A little small, but oh well! The heated floor in the master bathroom, was really neat! Keep the feets toasty. The cinnamon rolls were HEAVEN! Delish! We plan on heading back there next year. There is so much to see around Bellingham/Ferndale area. Owners were very friendly, and great to work with. They were quick to respond to emails,and phone calls. We will be back! Cozy place!
