Vacation Rental Description
The Elk cabin is one of a cluster of four cabins located in the city of Custer South Dakota, close to grocery shopping, services, and locale entertainment. The Elk cabin has been completely remodeled and has all new furnishings. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and 2 queen futons in the living room of the cabin, to accommodate 6 guests. The kitchenette contains a stove top, microwave, refrigerator, and utensils for cooking and eating. Bedding, pillows, and towels are provided. This is a very clean and pleasant cabin for your enjoyment.
Adjacent to this property is the Mickelson Trail that travels from edgemont, South Dakota to Deadwood, South Dakota. This trail is for walking, Biking and Horseback riding through the beauty of the Black Hills.
Area Description
There are many major Black Hills Attractions close to Custer. A few miles to the east is Custer State Park, one of the most beautiful state parks in the nation, that features a wildlife loop, where buffalo, white tail deer, elk, antelope, prairie dogs, and donkeys may be seen. Many pictureque lakes are located in the park, also the erosion carved, majestic "needles" overlook the park.
Just outside the park near Sylvan Lake is Harney Peak, which has walking trails and horse trails to the top, when you reach the top you will be at the highest point between the Rocky Mountains and the Pyrenees in Spain.
A short drive to the north of Custer is Crazy Horse Mountain that is currently being carved. Mount Rushmore National monument is another short drive to the north and east of Crazy Horse. South of Custer is the Wild Horse Sanctuary where a large herd of horses live free and can be observed by visitors. Near the sanctuary in Hot Springs is the mammoth archeological site and dig.
