Stay at Cabin

January 3, 2015

My mom and I decided to go to the Black Hills for vacation. I started looking for cheap cabins because I knew we wouldn't be around for most of the day. We really enjoyed the cabin! It was bigger than what my mom and I are used to! It's also away from almost everything, which is really nice! It felt weird because my mom and I are used to noise, but we got used to it. Glenda and her husband are amazing people and also very helpful!

Awesome Vacation

September 28, 2014

The Hideaway Cabin is the perfect spot, a centralized location to all of South Dakota Black Hills and surrounding area. Glenda is a gracious host and always ready to help plan the day and give information on surrounding sites and eating places. The cabin is comfortable and clean, the bed is not the most comfortable but can be overlooked. Always deer to see on the hillside. We had a wonderful week traveling out each day from the cabin. Thank you Glenda for sharing your cabin with us.

Off the Beaten Path

August 22, 2013

First family vacation in over 6 years and could not have asked for a nicer hostess. Glenda was so sweet and always willing to offer advice, suggestions or recommdations to make our trip even more enjoyable. She even provided our own pet "cat" for the week. The kitty was not an inside pet but was fun to watch her cautiously come to the door to discover what treats we left her for the day. The cabin is well equipped, and clean. Bed and furntiure not the most comfortable but we spent so little time at the cabin it did not hamper our experience one iota. We knew ahead of time we were sacrificing perhaps some comfort for the remote, private location. Be prepared, it is not a 55 mph zone getting to the cabin. Expect 30 mph for a good share of the drive to the cabin. But the scenery is spectacular, right along the Mickelson Trail. We even got the rare experience of watching a herd of elk traveling through the hills on our way out of the valley as we were heading home. Great way to end a wonderful family experience. Great experience in the Black Hills

July 15, 2013

This cabin was as advertised and better than my wife and I could have hoped for for our week's stay in the Black Hills. The cabin is completely outfitted with all the modern conveniences and manages to retain its cozy, comfy charm. Our hosts who live on the lot next door couldn't do enough for us. We used the cabin as our base while we toured the area on our motorcycle. The steep gravel driveway to the cabin was a little intimidating at first but we had no problem dealing with it once we put our minds to it. The owners allowed us to store the bike in the garage while we were not using it. We were impressed with this accommodation and would recommend it to anyone.

This was a lovely cabin. Very secluded, near a quiet old mining town; population of 9. Lots of history here, and the locals were very nice. The front of the cabin faces a nice hillside, with the occasional deer roaming on the property below, and the sound of nearby Rapid Creek rushing through the area . Cozy little cabin, perfect for two. Property owner was very accommodating. Will be returning.

Owner's reply:

Thank you for your kind words, Sarah. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the Hideaway. I wish you could have stayed a few more days because the doe you were seeing just brought her twin fawns out and they have been napping below the deck !

We look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes to you both and thanks for staying with us.

hidden gem

The owners are terrific. The property is well kept, clean, in good repair, and nicely secluded. It is really centrally located if you want to explore all of the Black Hills. Rochford is a neat historical little town as an added bonus. You have great access to the Mickelson Trail, and you really see a lot of deer and wild turkeys as you come and go.

Off the Grid

July 16, 2012

My wife and I get to have a week away from the kids once a year and this year we dicided to take a trip to the Black Hills. We wanted a nice, quiet, secluded place to stay that was still close to all the sights. Well, thats just what we got. The drive out the cabin is wonderfull and the views are tough to match. Glenda was wonderful as a host. She was very knowledgeable about the area and would do anything to make our stay comfortable. We loved our stay in the cabin and the Black Hills. I would highly recommend staying here at the Hideaway Cabin and enjoy the beauty around you. I will say that as my title of this review states...while here you are "off the grid". No cell service and 30-40 min away from "civilization". If you come here, be prepared. But you will have a great time.

Secluded cabin

July 8, 2012

My husband and myself wanted a very secluded cabin and we found it with the Hideaway. Winding roads lead you through abundant wild life and very little traffic. Very clean cabin, our only negative comment was the rather steep drive up to the cabin.

Wonderful Hideaway

August 20, 2011

We recently stayed at this cabin and had a wonderful experience. The couple that own this cabin were the most warm and caring hosts. The cabin was well equipted with supplies and anything that was needed was gotten quickly. We watched wildlife from the front deck. Will stay at this cabin again.

Special Hideaway

October 9, 2010

We returned for the 2nd year to attend the Sturgis Rally and stayed at the Hideaway..It was like coming home again. What a wonderful feeling it was. Again, Dean and Glenda made us feel right at home. Truly worthwhile spending time is this Hideaway. Cooked on the grill and dined out on the deck.

Wonderful, private, comfortable and clean cabin. Enjoyed the secluded scenery and wildlife. The owners were helpful with vacation planning and making us welcome. You couldn't find a better cabin in the Black Hills area. I would recommend this to anyone staying for a hideaway vacation,

We want everyone to know that this little hideaway in the woods is an absolute fantastic place to spend any vacation whether it be a few days or a few weeks. Extremely clean and is furnished to make you feel right at home. The owners are extemely knowledgable of the area and was willing to share with us. We can't thank them enough for making our trip so very memorable. We are looking forward to going back to the Hideaway in the future since we didn't get to see and do everything the area has to offer. This was our 1st trip to Sturgis on the bike. It was so nice to be able to get away from all of the hustle and noise every nite. It was very relaxing to sit out on the deck each morning & evening just taking in the beautiful skyline/countryside and enjoying the peace & quiet. Convenient location to all of the attractions in the area. We will not hestitate to recommend the Hideaway to any friends or family that might happen to be visiting South Dakota.
