Description of the Black Mountain vacation cabin rental

Nestled above the quaint town of Black Mountain in a stand of rhododendrons, dogwoods and hemlocks, this two bedroom, one bath remodeled cabin offers a stone breakfast patio, front porch swing, and an eat-in country kitchen.

The World War II era cabin was remodeled with recycled woods from the property. The kitchen floor was redone with the old hemlock siding; poplar baseboard and window trim are from the barn; and rhododendron pickets and shelf supports are also from the property.

You don't have to see anyone for days, or, if you enjoy a distraction, visit Black Mountain's folk art, antique shops and galleries, and the spectacular Black Mountain Golf Course is three miles away.

Lake Tomahawk offers free concerts in the summer as well as tennis courts and a beautiful walking path around the lake. Also available in the area is trout fishing, hiking, mountain biking and paddling.

Other nearby distractions: Asheville's Biltmore House - 15 miles; Chimney Rock State Park - 20 miles; Mt. Mitchell State Park - 20 miles; Blue Ridge Parkway - 10 miles.

Although you will feel like you are in the wilderness, downtown Black Mountain is only two miles away.

This is a quaint little cabin, privately tucked in the woods but still close to everything. It has everything a vacationer needs (includiing Internet) but no frills (which would spoil the rustic effect.) It's the perfect get-away.  more...

The cabin is actually named "Abalone," and it is a very appropriate name. The abalone shell is plain on the outside but hides beautiful pearly tones. Such is the case with this cabin. We had a very nice weekend there. The place has beautiful natural accents and is wonderfully renovated. If you hate highway noise, reconsider: the highway is clearly evident by the sound but not by sight. But if you want easy access to Asheville, there it is. The woods are beautiful and the cabin is isolated and private. There is no fireplace or woodstove, but we watched a great movie and the heat worked well! I would definitely stay there again. Abalone: the beauty is inside. The owners are acommodating and very nice. It's a good place, with a good vibe. We had a very good weekend there.  more...

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful cabin for our 10th wedding anniversary. We loved the location, which was very convenient, and the beauty of the area. The cabin was clean and comfortable with all the needs of a home available to us. I highly recommend this rental to anyone thinking of staying in the Black Mountain area.
