Description of the Black Mountain vacation home rental
Come to the mountains and experience all our wonderful area has to offer! The weather is beautiful, the house is ready and you deserve to be here!! :)
The Chateau de Vue has amazing views and will certainly satisfy all your guests' wants and needs! Spend time outside during the day then enjoy a bonfire or sit by the fireplace at night.
Plenty to do here - hiking, bonfires, relaxing, stargazing, shopping...something for everyone!
Get away in luxurious style in the mountains of North Carolina with over 6000 square feet of living area on 60 acres of private land, for less per night than it would cost you to get just two hotel rooms in town! The views are truly phenomenal, not just 'long range', but a full 180 degree panoramic. You can enjoy this from the privacy of your back porch or from 3000' on your private third story tower!
Plus, you get five private bedroom suites (each with a private full bath), five and a half total bathrooms, two full service kitchens (the main with all Viking appliances), 60 inch plasma TV in great room with DirectTV, full surround sound, as well as a 1200 sq ft recreation room (aka Dungeon) stocked with a full-size pool table, Hurricane foosball table, shuffleboard table, ping-pong table, 42" TV with DirectTV, DVR, full surround (bring your Ipod and plug in to play your own music!) and dedicated 32" plasma TV for video games (bring your own system) as well as a 1000 chip poker set, puzzles and various boardgames!
Only 15 minutes to Black Mountain, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. 35 minutes to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate.
This property has everything you and your guests need in true estate quality and finishes. The views are phenomenal, the stars at night are brilliant. There is plenty of private land to tromp around on and hike or camp. There is plenty of parking (which in the mountains can be a very hard thing to come by) and plenty of space to either come together for family fun or split up and pursue your own activities. There is also plenty of places for everyone to be in the same room- the huge great room with a large semi-circle couch and chairs, the formal dining room with a table that seats 10 comfortably, the 1200 square foot Recreation room, and more.
Approx driving distances from:
Atlanta 3.5 hours
Raleigh/Durham 3.5 hours
Nashville, TN 5 hours
Washington DC 7.5 hours
Tampa 10 hours

The Castle
June 27, 2011
Staying at this Black Mountain Castle was quite an experience. The views are simply breath-taking and numerous from all parts of the house and the house itself is phenomenal. Our group of 15 had more than enough room to relax and enjoy a life of luxury. The master bedroom and bath is like something out of a movie...it is magnificent! The professional kitchen was also fantastic with a large gas stove and cool kitchen gadgets. All of the bedrooms have something unique about them which suites all guests. The property itself is also vast and a blast to explore...bring your hiking shoes. The owners are extremely accommodating, friendly and on the ball. Our only complaints were of poor water pressure for a short time (which could have been caused by a power outage and was taken care of immediately by the owners) and the sound acoustics in the house. Sound travels from the ground level to other areas of the house fairly easily even with the volume low. This was a bit of a problem for the little ones because they went to bed earlier than the rest of us. We also had to deal with quite a few bugs (flies and ants.) A screens would work great on the downstairs sliders and on other doors and windows. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we will definitely consider re-visiting the "Chateu" in the near future. A already miss it...

Awesome Family Vacation
December 28, 2010
Our family was overwhelmed at the beauty & splendor of the Black Mountain Chateau de Vue!! It was perfect for our family of 10 to celebrate Christmas! The view was magnificent & the home was very warm & cozy. We loved the family gathering room w/ large kitchen. Great for cooking, eating, watching TV & enjoying each other. The game room made for some awesome family competition, as well. This is definitely one we'll rent again!

Relax in style.
November 30, 2010
The house itself is beautiful. The kitchen stove was not clean though and that was gross. The backyard needs a bit of fixing up, but the property is in a great location. Many nice places to visit and hike in nearby areas with Asheville close enough to go back to the city if you miss it too much. We stayed the week of thanksgiving with a large part of our family. Go out in the morning to explore and then there was plenty to stay busy in the house at night. We had poker & ping pong tournaments, pool games, video playoffs, played dominos til 1 am and watched movies. Great place to relax. No internet or phone service available.

this home is everything the owners said....and more! secluded, spacious, fun and relaxing. We had friends meet up here from all of the Southeast and Midwest, everyone's breath was taken by the drive, the views and the home. We can not WAIT to stay here again with friends and family, for an entire week next time is what we are looking for..not to leave the mountain at all...just enjoy. The owners were super easy and friendly to work with, thanks guys for all your open communication during the lead up to the stay, it made things so much easier. Chateau De Vue is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Our vacation including family ages15 - 80 was well-suited to the Chateau de Vue. We were able to relax in the various rooms, read, play games (we organized a low-key family tournament of foosball/pool/and shuffleboard that lasted the week), make daily outings if desired, exercise and hike, and settle in for evenings of gourmet cooking and sunset-viewing from the porch. The details of 'castle' decor make the house different and special. It is spacious and has the feeling of being 'big' like a castle. A few times late at night, we watched a movies we had brought, but it is too beautiful a home and location to waste time on the television. We visited a local lake for a pontoon boat tour, went fly-fishing with a local guide, ate out at some lovely restaurants on the lake and at nearby towns, shopped and explored local towns, visited Asheville, and more. The mountain road leading to the home is quite curvy, but that encourages you to plan ahead and not expect to run out every ten minutes to do or get something. It makes for an excellent opportunity to just enjoy each other. There are no 'next-door' neighbors, so it is peaceful. There are so many things to see or do in the area, that this great part of the country warrants many repeat visits. We would definitely stay at this home again.

What a fantastic week!!! The Chateau was everything we wanted for a spot to house 16 family members. As a gourmet cook, the kitchen was wonderful. Plenty of room to feed the whole crew. The younger kids loved the dungeon and all the games. The older crew loved the back porch with its fabulous view of the mountains---a glass of wine, cool breeze and great conversation. And the showers in the place--- we took shower tours to find the best one---from the double in the master suite to the rain from the ceiling upstairs. The chateau is decorated in classy style with each bedroom having its destinctive style. Oh, and the driveway up is a piece of cake. WE also loved the surrounding area---Chimney Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Grandfather Mountain and of course Asheville--- what a great farmers' market! And Black Mountain and Montreat were both highlights. And great swimming holes on the way to Chimney Rock. The Chateau was everything advertised. The owners were friendly and helpful. We would definitely consider it again

This home exceeded our expectations. It's huge with nice furnishings and beautiful finishes. It's on quite a bit of land which gives you privacy and some hiking trails. The owners are very nice as well. We stayed with our two teen-aged kids and they enjoyed the game room so much, we never turned on the TV. In fact, we spent more time in the house than we planned, because we all enjoyed it so much. We would definitely recommend it.

We had a great week at the Chateau! We did a mix of things in the area......Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Biltmore Estate/Ashville, shopping, golf, etc., but we also really enjoyed relaxing at the house. It is such a beautiful home and view. Everyone in our small group had a great time.
Thanks again for letting us stay at the Chateau. It was everything and more than we expected!

Chateau de Vue is an amazing home! The house is huge, well designed and decorated and feels warm and welcoming! The owners were just as nice and honest to deal with through out. Each morning we had coffee while watching the beautiful sunrises over the eastern mountains and then went on fun hikes up the property. After day trips to surrounding towns and adventures we would come home each evening to cook dinner in a huge kitchen and then gather around the outside fire pit for smores and laughter an the evening sunset over the western mountains. Finally as we ended the evening the kids would play in the well stocked game room and we would sip wine by the indoor fire and watch a DVD or read.
I highly recommend this home.

We celebrated my father's 80th b-day in style in the mountains at the "Castle House". We loved the views, the weather and the layout. Enough room for the whole family and space for us all to have some alone time once in a while, too. Played games indoors and out and had a great birthday party to boot. Also, spent a day at the beach at lake lure, easy drive and great day get away for the little ones and older ones alike. Thanks for the memories! I am trying to get the family to commit to week next year as well.

We have stayed in many vacation homes and this was by far the best. We enjoyed everything about the Chateau and the surrounding area. The owners, Matt and Jacey are great hosts and have provided EVERYTHING that you could possibly want or need while on vacation. The views are spectacular and the home has a very comfortable quality about it, which made it feel like "ours" while we were there. We are looking forward to coming back soon.

This is the place for you if you want peace, quiet, and comfort! We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay, and the owners are wonderful to deal with. Also worth mentioning, the main views are perfectly positioned for the wild variety of sunsets. Be sure to grab your favorite beverage and watch.

What a wonderful family vacation we had here! The house is fantastic --- lots of room, beautiful finishes, very comfortable. The views are amazing .... sitting on the porch was my most favorite activity of the day. The sunsets took my breath away, and the absolute quiet of the location restored my soul. It was wonderful to be able to gather with my entire extended family for a week we won't soon forget. Memories that we will cherish forever were made, and this home and this location now have a special place forever in our hearts.

Don and Judi , What a wonderful house in a spectacular setting. From coffee on the porch in the morning, to watching sunsets from the turret, we truly enjoyed our time at the Chateau. The owners have provided a wide range of touches that say Welcome and enjoy your stay. All of the rooms are much brighter than the photos show. The owners have even provided walkingsticks ( in the garage) if you want to hike the property. The town of Black Mountain is charming and has some very good resturants. There are many places to explore nearby. We were so busy relaxing that we had to book another stay.
