A Stage for Mountain Memories
July 13, 2014
Theatre performances that elicit laughter, joy, and even tears, are often remembered for years to come. Yet only when the theatres, and specifically when the stages, offer something special and unique are they incorporated with the meaningful memories of the theatrical experience. The Blairsville, GA mountain cabin where we recently had the pleasure of staying, was the momentous stage of significance for our recent Fourth of July vacation. The owners of the property seemed to preconceive every possible scenario in each room -- and even outdoors, to comfortably accommodate each of the cabin locations' experiences. From citronella candles on the porch, flavored coffee in the kitchen, board games in the living room, pillow rests by the bathroom Jacuzzi, and extra blankets in the bedrooms -- the private mountain cabin owners set the stage for a beautiful week of mountain memories. Outside, the rocking chairs, ottoman, and built-in benches made the outdoor fireplace one of the highlights of our stay. We bought giant marshmallows (the size of baseballs) and shared fireside stories for hours -- even in July! Similarly to audience members sitting in a captivating theatre, inside the cabin, we took in sights of thoughtfully decorated mountain rooms -- complete with mountain baskets, black bear and moose décor. The doors to the wrap-around deck and multiple windows made mountain views the scenic backdrop for meal preparation, singing, dancing, and lots of love and laughter. Though we did not venture out often, having local business cards, directories, and previous guests' suggestions readily available, gave us helpful insight as to the availability and quality of food, business, and entertainment beyond the 'stage'. As the stage curtains to the long weekend closed, we hated to say goodbye to the retreat that had offered respite from what often becomes the weekly grind. Yet we smiled with the thought, and with the hope of another soon-to-come encore performance on the private mountain cabin stage in the lovely Blairsville, GA.

This cabin was spacious, very clean and well kept on the inside and comfortable beds. It had a great layout and the loft area had a bedroom that had a door that could be closed off from the living room downstairs. Two fireplaces gas inside /wood burning on outside and owner provided the logs for outside one.Easy road access to cabin and not far from town for shopping and town square. Great covered porch with rockers to sit and enjoy the outdoors and view. The rental rate was just right for this cabin and it was dog friendly! The owners put alot of thought into furnishing the cabin. Not cell service friendly but you can make calls on the housephone if needed. Enjoyed our stay here!!
Relax and leave the stress behind

Our week stay at the Fireside Mountain Retreat was perfect. We were able to relax and leave the stress of work behind. We were able to hiking, shopping and lots of exploring of the area. Peaceful time at the cabin and down home cooking in town at several locations. This was a perfect vacation. I highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation. I am certain we will be returning.

A buddy and I spent a very comfortable weekend at Lynne and Bob's cabin. The cabin itself was immaculate and although it was just the two of us, it offered plenty of space for six people. Loved coffee in the mornings from the rocking chairs on the porch and, of course, S'mores in the evening from the outdoor fireplace. The cabin location is close to Blairsville, but far enough out to have the quiet of the countryside - minus the neighboring chickens/rooster(s)! No need to set an alarm, they'll wake you up when it's time. :) I highly recommend the Blairsville Farmers Market - excellent produce and the BEST honey! Also love how close the cabin is in relation to Brasstown Bald and Vogel State Park; thus, plenty of hiking within a short distance. The Chamber is located at the Blairsville Golf Course; I am not a golfer, but I can say that the course is gorgeous. We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We were only sorry that it was so short. Will definitely come back again when time and life allows. Many thanks to Lynne and Bob for opening up their darling cabin for others to enjoy!

We stayed at this cabin for a long weekend and it was beautiful. The cabin is secluded but very close to the city. The outdoor fireplace is amazing and the cabin itself is extremely nice and spotless. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer rental in the area. I highly recommend staying here for anyone that is visiting this area.

My husband, son and I brought in the New Year at this wonderful cabin. The outdoor fireplace was where we spent the majority of our 3 days as the weather was too cool and rainy for outdoor activities. Even though you are tucked away in the middle of the woods, you have everything you need 5 minutes away - even Walmart! It's a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, with all of the conveniences of home! The cabin is tastefully decorated and well designed with a great porch where you can relax in a rocker and take in the breathtaking view around you!

The pictures on the web did not do the cabin justice. It very is comfortable for a vacation home. The TV went out the second day we were there. The dish company came immediately and it was discovered that the TV needed to be replace. One call to the owners and a new TV was on the way. This type of customer service you would expect at a 5 star hotel. I strongly recommend the property and hope to return.

Absolutely beautiful cabin! Wonderful views of the mountains, close to town (and Walmart)!, secluded... its clean and looks exactly like the pictures. I can not imagine coming back to visit the mountains and staying anywhere else. As soon as my boyfriend and I walked in, we started planning another trip to go back because we didn't want to leave. This is the number 1 choice - hands down!

We stayed at the begining of October. Leaves were just starting to change but very little. The view from the cabin was beautiful. The cabin was more than we expected lots of room and homey. The out door fireplace was really nice. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who would want to go to this area. The owners are so accommodating and reachable. I can't wait to be able to take another vacation their.

Four of us ladies went to the mountains for a getaway. We loved it. Lynne and Bob spared no expense in building the cabin. They did not even describe it as nice as it is. I will stay there again and again. We even ran out of wood for the outdoor fireplace and called Lynne will we were out and about. We got home about an hour later,,there was wood!! Amazing is all I can say!!!!

Fall and Summer in Ga.

My first visit to this cabin was in the Fall of 2010. I was so impressed with the amenities, accommodations, views and location that I immediately on my return home contacted the owners and booked a week in June. This time bringing my sister, brother-in -law and husband. My first visit was a "girls" weekend. We had a wonderful time and even though it was June, enjoyed the outdoor fireplace & definitely utilized the barbeque! The location is close to hiking trails, white water rafting, and horseback riding which we all enjoyed! The cabin is comfortable and has beautiful views. You can't beat waking up in the morning and sitting on the porch with your coffee and seeing deer grazing at the end of the driveway! Would definitely return and plan to!
