This is a true vacation dream. The cabin has rustic charm with lots of amenities for those who really don't care to rough it. Indoors, is a kitchen/living room, full bath with shower, 1 bedroom and a loft and a pull out couch to sleep a total of 6. Brand new to the cabin this summer is air-conditioning for your comfort. We maintain our hot tubs year round so they are ready for that late night soak before climbing into a comfortable queen size bed. There's a hammock for your afternoon naps and an outdoor fire pit perfect for marshmallow cooking. Lots of wildlife at the cabin including rabbits, birds, deer, turkey and a few others. The cabin's interior is tastefully decorated with solid pine ceilings and walls and oak floors. When checking out our link, take a look at our 1830s farmhouse on the property that sleeps 10 and has all the amenities of the cabin. The two can be rented for family reunions and that special gathering of friends. Find us at Hideaway Hollow in Bedford, PA.

Area Information

Hideaway Hollow is settled into a very rural community in the heart of Bedford County. While staying with us at the farm, plan to do some bird watching and exploring the 75 acres surrounding our homes. Hike the woods, cross the open fields and climb the hillsides for a view that spans more than 25 miles. The sunsets are beautiful and are best viewed from the hill top behind the house where the view spans more than 25 miles. And with all the wide open space, its easy to see the stars at night. No tall buildings to hide the night sky. Cook outs abound here. We have gas grills at each of our homes and a fire pit with a supply of wood for your late night cooking pleasure, even if its just a s'more you are hoping for, and each home has its own outdoor hot tub so there's no need to share. There is great trout fishing just five minutes from Hideaway Hollow in Bob's Creek, and Blue Knob State Park is only 10 minutes away where the swimming is as refreshing in cold mountain water as it could be. The Covered Bridge Tour begins just 5 minutes away and all around are great routes for bicycling and walking. We have an 18 hole golf course in Imler and another at Blue Knob. For indoor fun, there is bowling, movies, roller skating, antiquing, live theater, wine tasting, and Old Bedford Village.
Blue Knob All Season's Resort is the place that serious skiers go and claims its fame as the highest ski-able mountain in Pennsylvania. Mountain biking is very popular at Blue Knob and hosts some of the routes for the Tour DeToona cycling race every year. Don't forget our Fall Foliage Festival the first two weekends in October which draws crowds of more than 30,000 people to Bedford every year. No matter what the season, we have something for everyone. Come and experience relaxation in any way that you want!

Other Vacation Rental Amenities

Although the cabin does not have wireless internet, the farmhouse does. The two homes offer a different type of stay, for those who want a little more outside world connection, the farmhouse is ideal. Our cabin is large enough for 1 pet, the farmhouse is large enough for 2.

Excellent for the price, very nice owners

If you are looking for a no frills, laid back, friendly location that gives you easy access to Blue Knob for skiing, this is a great place. Patty has been very attentive and accommodating, and made everything easy. The house is an old farmhouse, don't expect luxury, but you're not paying a luxury price either. Be aware that there is only one shower, and three of the bedrooms are walk-through (you walk from one into the next, without separate entrances), so this is best for a group who are quite comfortable with each other. The setting is quite pretty and the drive to Blue Knob is 15 minutes and change. All the basics are there and it seemed that Patty and Wayne would always be available should an emergency occur, including getting stuck on the road in bad weather (thankfully it wasn't needed). Would repeat any time our group is looking for an easy escape and we don't want to shell out the premium for slope-side or luxury accommodations.

Owner's reply:

Unique to this area are farmhouses with a walk through bedroom layout. The home dates to 1830 with considerable upgrades such as a second bathroom upstairs with a toilet and sink. We have also closed off one of the doorways to permit privacy in 2 of the 4 bedrooms. The other two bedrooms would be great for young children or for families/ groups who don't mind a bit more familiarity. Wayne and I are close by and are available to help out in the event of an emergency.

We were only looking for a place to stay while we visit family in the area. We found a beautiful hideaway. Our stay in the cabin was a wonderful experience. The cabin is new and perfectly furnished. Our family stayed with us overnight. The four of us, and our dog lulu; played, cooked, entertained like we were home. We will be scheduling our next trip around the cabins availability. And we will be staying more than a couple nights!

Owner's reply:

Andy,

So glad you enjoyed your stay and Lulu is a gem. Although it is secluded, the cabin offers another option to guests looking for a place to stay while visiting family in the area. We are happy you found us!

Amazing!!

My cousin and I just rented the cabin for the weekend for a birthday(mine)/weekend getaway which we both desperately needed!! Her being a full time student as well as having a full time job and internship, and myself workin full time and being a fiancé and mommy, we dedfiitely needed a nice, quiet weekend to just relax and do whatever we wanted! This cabin was all that and more! It super exceeded all of our expectations!! We were so comfortable and felt right at home! The hot tub and woodstove were the extra touches to just be able to sit back and enjoy the quiet! We went down into town and visited historical Bedford and even went on a self tour of the Covered Bridges of PA!(which Wayne and Patty left a notebook with several places to eat, directions how to get to immediate locations and lots of history about their cabin, farmhouse and life) It was just all around the most perfect weekend! We are so grateful to have found this place and To Wayne and Patty for allowing us to stay! I recommend this cabin to ANYONE! Wayne and Patty were also so nice and thoughtful! When we arrived Friday night, they had left lights on for us and the woodstove had a beautiful fire already going! We were completely speechless when we walked in! The pictures do this cabin no justice, it's a must see in person to truly understand how beautiful, peaceful and serene it is!!! I really cannot thank Wayne and Patty enough!! =)) It was a beautiful way to celebrate my birthday! I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to stay!!

Perfect Pennsylvania Pleasure

What a wonderful experience! Beautiful rustic cabin tucked away in the woods. Wayne and Patty have created a casual and very comfortable atmosphere. The location was perfect and we had everything necessary for total comfort: the full kitchen, hot tub, tv/dvd, clean, full-bathroom and lots of privacy. The cabin was very clean and well organized. The coolest part: Wayne described how he built the cabin by hand and, as we looked around at the vaulted ceilings, wooden beams, and precision woodwork, all accented by Patty's tasteful decor; we could really appreciate the amount of work and heart that actually went into the creation of this restful retreat. We're checking your calendar now for future availability. Thank you both for a truly relaxing three days ....nourishment for the soul

Guestbook

Hideaway Hollow has been a dream that belongs to both my husband and myself. Raised on the property, I grew up appreciating the simpler life we live here. Surrounded by acres of open fields and woodland, it was where I hiked with my collie as a child and today, I walk my retriever on these same 75 acres. We fondly welcome our children home to enjoy the land with us, to let their children and there pets be part of this spacious, beautiful landscape that has lovingly been in our family for 3 generations. My husband Wayne, sees the farm from a New Englander's eyes and holds a different appreciation for it than I do. Living here since I was 10 years old, it is simply home, full of loving memories and for Wayne, he loves the view, the surrounding mountains and the absolute peace that he never knew living in the center of Massachusetts. Hideaway Hollow is where we call home and it is this treasure we are excited to share with you, our guests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:Can I bring a dog?
A:We do permit one dog at the cabin. There is a 75.00 non-refundable fee charged for bringing a pet.
Q:What is the cell phone service like at the cabin.?
A:Cell phone service varies. Most carriers will support a text message but actual calling can be very spotty. There are a few spots near the house where you may be able to make a call but for the most part, you will have to travel a mile to get good service. The house does have a land line which will permit you to make a local call.
