Boipeba is a small ecological island and with no road access from the mainland. There are no cars on the island, with its very small community its one of the safest places you can imagine. It is as close to paradise as places on earth can get!
Boipeba Island is one of Brazil's most unspoiled paradise islands. It is also a best kept secret. Its white sandy beaches and pristine clear, warm waters will seduce every traveler.
Boipeba Island is one of the Tinharé archipelago islands, in the county of Cairu, located south of Bahia, approx. 3h drive south of Salvador, or 25min by air taxi.
Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Inferno River on the other, this island is of rare natural beauty, home to a great variety of fauna and flora.
Boipeba Island is under the Brazilian Government Environmental Protection and therefore has not been developed by big hotels and resorts. A very small number of local pousadas (bed & breakfast) cater mostly for individual, independent travelers. Boipeba has been still largely undiscovered by main tourism and this is why its original beauty and charm have been kept.
Boipeba has only 3,000 inhabitants, who live in a few small fishing villages. Unlike many other places in Brazil, Boipeba with its tiny local community is one of the safest places you can imagine.
Boipeba Island is perfect for swimming, sun bathing, diving and snorkeling in its natural swimming pools, canoeing, horseriding, reading or just visiting the local village of Velha Boipeba. You will meet some of the warmest people found in Bahia, with their unique blend of African, Portuguese and local traditions.
Its local culture is truly unique and vibrant and at the same time you can enjoy the tropical sun lying on white sandy beaches, swim in warm waters, hike through the Atlantic Rain Forest, or simply swing in a hammock to watch birds singing.

I stayed at Villa Boypeba with my husband. It was a lot of space for the two of us yet at the same time was a inspirational and revitalizing setting. Sitting back, drawing, or dancing and taking in the rythms of the daily tides. The home is breezy and cool due to cross winds, with a view of broad wrapping coastline, including the mangroves. We revelled in the moonscapes, spectacular morning vistas, ...music gently rising from the village as well as evening Capoeira Dance sounds from the beach. The fact the villa profits go to preserve this peaceful oasis is very important to us. I really, really hope the ecological and local fishing supports are successful. Great treatment by the chef, Fredson. Staff was available yet not intrusive. Oh, and a very interesting movie collection and art room!. My husband attached the available bose speakers to the entertainment system as we had a bit of problem with sound, and really enjoyed our evenings. Villa Boypeba decor is an aesthetic delight providing immediate access and home base to the simple and beautiful treats of an island oasis. The warmest beach waters I've ever enjoyed!

We wanted to escape the pretentious glitzy Dubai scene, and we certainly found he right place to achieve this. Boipeba can simply be described as a hidden gem, where not only nature and the pristine beaches have been virtually untouched, but also as a place where people have not been yet spoilt by modern life. We were touched by how welcoming and friendly the locals were. If your ideal holiday is frequenting beach clubs, café society and trying new restaurants and night clubs every night, then this is not the place for you. If like us, you are after a more bohemian, natural lifestyle where to fully unwind, then this place is paradise. As for Villaboypeba, beyond its high quality, the privileged location and sense of privacy, what we will most remember is the homely and welcoming feeling created by the staff that looked after us during our stay. We will be back.

Villa Boypeba lies on The Island of Boipeba just a stone's throw from The Bahia City of Salvador, Brazil. The Position is one to envy as it rests on top of a hill surrounded by breath taking views over The Island, crescent shaped palm fringed bays where one can swim, and The River Rio Grande, where the Sun sets over this tranquil paradise. The Villa can only be described as 5 Star, being almost entirely constructed from rich Mahogany coloured timber, with never ending verandas overlooking Panoramic views, where one can sit, socialise, and enjoy the views as day passes into night. No expense has been spared from its opulent furnishings, including Baroque beds, crystal chandeliers / mirrors, granite bathrooms, fabulous fabrics and lastly the Staff who can prepare the most mouth watering creative local delicacies, maintain the Villa, Gardens and will ensure your stay is one of your most precious memories I had the most glorious stay here in April and had to tear myself away to return to reality

"We have been going to Villa Boypeba twice a year since it opened. Magnificent location, exquisite interiors, excellent service and mouth watering meals, must recommend the in-house chef Fredson for his traditional take on the Bahian muqueca dish. Not to mention watching the sunset from the veranda. Very reasonably priced for such a luxurious property. A place where you leave your world behind and want to stay forever!" Paulo and Rodrigo.
