The cabin is just breath taking beautiful. Every attention to detail makes you feel like you're in a handmade wilderness log cabin with all modern conveniences. It is secluded if that's what you're looking for. You do feel like you are away from it ALL! The roads up to the cabin are a little mt. rustic to travel. I suggest getting directions, don't trust GPS? up to the cabin, GPS took us through some back wood one lane gravel roads that was an adventure? We did find a better way with paved roads in and out once we were there going down into BOONE to access 421 was a better route. The driveway is STEEP and WINDING but I made it in my car. In winter weather you would need AWD for sure. The management company is so accommodating, informative and very friendly. The cabin itself is a wonderment to try and figure out how they built this on this slope ? I would love for the owners to put a book about the cabin for visitors access telling about its construction and where the logs are from and how long it took to build it and how they got up there to do so? Even pictures of the building stages etc would be nice. We went up for a family weekend with my elderly parents and the 2-3 steps up the front porch to the front door and having bedroom and bathroom access on main level was ideal for my 85 &88 yr.old parents! We loved it and hope to visit it again in the future! BEAUTIFUL CABIN thank you so much for allowing us to experience it.

The place had amazing view, wonderful plan with the pool table near living and kitchen. Nice hot tub on cold nights and was very clean! Also had lots of linens and pillows. The ONLY thing I would say is the noise you can hear from the bottom floor room was VERY loud! You could hear every step, conversation, teeth brushing, you name it! But, def not enough to not go back again! You can tell the owners take very good care of the place :)

We stayed at the beautiful log cabin home for a graduation at Applachian State in nearby Boone NC. The house was great; all the appliances, heat, etc. worked fantastically. It is decorated amazingly, and the setting in the hills is just wonderful. It is a very safe house with an alarm system, CO and smoke detectors, but even though it is secluded from your neighbors with trees, you never feel too secluded or unsafe. We had a fantastic time with our family all together for the graduation, we went for walks in the neighborhood and down by the lake. We didn't have time to go fishing or build a fire in the fire pit, maybe next time. We made dinner in the well appointed kitcken and saved time and money by not going out to eat. Great place to stay and we will be back in the future.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. The Christmas decor was marvelous making us feel right at home. The frozen lake view and its surroundings was just spectacular. The kids had a blast with the sleds and we just had a wonderful Holiday Family Vacation. Again, thank you very much for making our drean come true and making it the reservation process so simple.

Thanks to Oscar & Maria for opening their home to us for our Granddaughter's graduation from Appalachian State University and Mother's Day family celebration. By enjoying the wonderful, homey, atmosphere of their beautiful mountain home we were able to totally relax and enjoy our granddaughter's graduation and Mother's Day in a very homey atmosphere. Made the weekend one of the the best for our family celebrations. We will certainly return to enjoy the spendors of the area in the near future. Thanks again!

Our group of 8 had a fantastic time!! We fished in the lake, and mainly just sat around the bonfire and caught up with each others lives. The kitchen was fully stocked and the dining room sat all of us perfectly. We would definitely recommend this cabin to others, the price is the best in the area and the cabin was the prettiest. Thanks Oscar!! :) We'll be back next year!

For the third year a group of six women rented a home in the North Carolina Mountains. Again this year, we had a wonderful time in a beautiful home. The home met or exceeded our every expectation. It was lovely, clean, well maintained and in a beautiful setting. The kitchen was the best equipped yet.
The owner was easy to deal with and we would highly recommend this property to our friends. We enjoyed mountain hiking, kayaking, and the Highland Games in Blowing Rock. We have returned to the area for several years as we so enjoy the activites and all the area has to offer.
Cabin by the Lake is an ideal setting for family or friends to gather!

The cabin is modern and beautiful. We planned on visiting more area attractions than we did. Instead, we took advantage of the beauty that surrounded the cabin itself. It allowed me to spend quality time with my three young children and reconnect with them. Together we went for walks in the woodlands and picked berries, fished and swam together in the lake behind the cabin, and went tubing down the river that is located approximately a mile away, at the bottom of the mountain. We also saw deer walking through the back yard in the morning. I was blessed to have had this relaxing vacation experience with my family. I would definately recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a wilderness retreat, interested in walking trails, biking or looking for a place that is close to many local attractions. We plan on staying there again in the future.

Cabin by the Lake exceeded our expectations. The homeowners designed a comfortable, spacious vacation home and decorated it beautifully. In addition to a modern kitchen, open floor plan, wonderful deck, satellite television, computer with internet access, the home has a monitored security system. Although it is located conveniently to local sightseeing attractions, we would have been happy to spend our entire vacation at the Cabin by the Lake, enjoying the lake only steps away from the home and the forest surrounding the home. The homeowners were so gracious and hospitable. We would love to visit again

I would almost like to say it was horrible so that no one else would find this incredible jewel. I will have to say that it was just amazing! The setting, the cabin and the owners were just the best and they all made our week wonderful. Peace and quiet abound and the luxury of this cabin will be just what you need. It is just above the New River so don't be afraid to go tubing, rafting or kayaking. You won't regret it. Take the bikes for a spin on Railroad Grade Rd., it is great fun. There is so much to enjoy, and so much to make this place shine!

My definition of a cabin has certainly changed. This is a clean, comfortable, well furnished home. The location is beautiful and the decor is a pleasant blend of the rustic and antique with the up-to-date! I will recommend this property to those who like the look of a log cabin, but who appreciate the most modern amenities. And I'm already planning my next visit.

I'm losing count, but I believe this past week was our third adventure at Cabin by the Lake. (should have been the 4th time, but it was booked) It has become our favorite rendezvous spot to relax and rejuvenate with family. The cabin has a tasteful decor with an ambience of rustic elegance. There is a hynotic, mesmerizing, and magical appeal that leaves us craving to return to this same spot. The views in Fleetwood Falls are breathtaking. There is something for everyone to do... roasting marshmallows and hotdogs, hiking to the falls, jogging around the scenic paths, talking with neighbors, grilling out, fishing the pond and the New River, kayaking, canoeing, reading, shopping, sightseeing, theme parks, ... it's all readily accessible. Better yet... recharging batteries at no pace at all. Cabin by the Lake is certainly a premiere destination spot in the mountains of North Carolina for us. We are hopelessly smitten.

As we entered Fleetwood Falls and made our way to the cabin we were admiring all the homes in the resort. We couldn't believe when we made it to "The Cabin by the Lake". It was the most attractive home in the community. Not only did the cabin have that "country" atmosphere, it also had the modern technology of internet, flat screen TV's, surround sound, and all the necesseties in the kitchen for making excellent meals. The owners provided us with everything we needed including area sites and attractions!!! This was our first family vacation in the mountains and because of "The Cabin by the Lake", it will definitely not be our last!!!
P.S. The lake had plenty of bass, catfish, and brim, too!!!
