Historically known for Paul Revere's ride during the Revolutionary War, which was signaled by The North End's Old North Church ("One if by land, two if by sea"), today the North End is a cozy neighborhood in Boston known for its narrow streets and traditional Italian restaurants. These famous restaurants make the North End an attraction for Boston tourists and residents alike. Many of the residents of this neighborhood are Italian Americans or young professionals. Either way, they all enjoy the North End's close proximity to downtown Boston, its intimate neighborhood feel, as well as access to the waterfront along Commercial Street. No trip to the North End is complete without a stroll down Hanover Street and a stop for a cannoli and cappuccino while enjoying the people watching.
