Secluded Rustic Log Farmhouse (#32901)

Boulder, Colorado

Description of the Boulder vacation home rental

This wonderful Colorado log home is nestled at the end of a private dirt road on 6+ acres, surrounded by huge trees and open hay pastures. Only 8 miles east of Boulder, with very easy access to I25 and DIA, Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont, Lyons, Estes Park. You'll enjoy the lodge atmosphere, starry skies, awesome views of the mountains, beautiful sunsets, swimming pool in the spring and summer, peace and quiet, safety and serenity. You'll see ducks coming in for a landing on the pond on my northern property border, and sometimes hundreds of geese flying over. Get up early on the weekends to see the hot air baloons overhead in the distance. Redwing blackbirds are always around to serenade you. It's a little heaven on earth hidden away but SO close to everything. There are walking, running, hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails all over Boulder County, fabulous dining, shopping, ETOWN shows(check that out), Chautauqua Park, University of Colorado. Enjoy unlimited fun and frolic in one of the most desirable little towns in the world. Soft high-quality cotton linens on all beds, and only environmentally friendly products used. The property is supplied with well water that is clean and plentiful. If you would like water delivered from Indian Peaks, it's $7.50 for a 5-gallon. He comes every 2 weeks, so let me know. It's a lovely home-away-from-home for rent to nice people. The photos were done with a fish-eye lens, so the rooms look bigger than they are!

I live in the basement apartment which is a complete with laundry room, kitchen and separate entrance. I've got a couple of older horses in the pasture, and generally stay out of your way but to mow on the weekends and keep the horses watered. The pool and hot tub require constant maintenance, of course. Please be people who recycle, and please drive slowly on the dirt road, out of deference to the neighbors. It's rustic and casual. It's a big house, but the bedding accommodations are for 8 people, so add $50 per night for each additional person.

Area Description

This is an agricultural area, close to Denver, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville. Only 45 minutes to Estes Park, gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Just walking downtown on Boulder's Pearl Street Mall is amazing fun, lots of entertainment and kid-friendly stuff to do, as well as GREAT food. Don't miss the Farmers' Market for fresh, locally grown food, and the food court there is a feast of goodies from wood-fired pizza to smoothies and ice cream. You can tell I like good food!

Our hiking trails are varied and endless, and I highly recommend doing that if you have the time. I have many maps and suggestions, depending on your level of endurance. We probably have more biking trails all over Boulder County than any other place in this country. If you just want to hang out at the cabin and sit around the fire, jump into the pool and hot tub, you'll experience heaven on earth, and sleep like a baby.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities

YMCA with ice rink is a mile away, fabulous restaurants and entertainment in downtown Boulder only 8 miles down the road. This is a horse property, surrounded by other horse properties and equestrian facilities. On 6+ acres at the end of a 1/2 mile long road, very easy access to everything. There is a 3-stall barn, unoccupied at this time, close to a seasonal irrigation creek. You'll love the mountain views, gorgeous sunrise and sunset, big starry skies, and plenty of peace and quiet, and no traffic! The house was built in 1977 and is very rustic.

A great place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle of the city. Susan is a great host.

Peaceful get away, July 9, 2008
By Melissa Hartsell (Midland, NC USA)
We rented this property while staying in the area for a softball tournament. The place was very peaceful, and comfortable. Our boys enjoyed the pool after a hot day on the fields, and we parents enjoyed the hot tub. Susan and Rob were great, anything we needed we had it as soon as we asked.

Wish we could stay forever, June 27, 2008
By Sara R. (Chicago)
We just returned from this magical, secluded but extraordinarily conveniently located place- our kids had a blast in the pool and hot tub, and we saw foxes, coyotes, tons of bunnies. The view of the mountains is priceless. Susan was a sweet and conscientious hostess who supplied us with sidewalk chalk and maple building blocks to complete the vacation experience for our kids. The house is certainly rustic, but charming and comfortable to us. Would have loved for screens on the windows to keep bugs out and fresh air in, but that truly is the only criticism I can think of. Everything else makes any other vacation we've had seem sub-par by comparison. We will treasure the memories of our stay at this wonderful place.

BEst Dam Farmhouse, February 28, 2008
By lily n. (Boulder CO)
The farmhouse was absolutely wonderful, we enjoyed the privacy and the humble character the house had. It was nice to build a fire and have a completely unique experience. Even though the house was a tad chilly, the beds were more than phenomenal and even though we only stayed a short while, we felt completely welcome. It was a great property and i highly reccomend it.

Exactly What A New Year Needed, January 14, 2008
By Sarah Starr (Sierra Vista, Arizona)
Finding this cabin took a search, and it was entirely worth it. The cabin is everything promised; when you're there, it is tranquility defined. We spent a lot of our time in front of the fireplace, curled up in all the cosy blankets Susan set out. The beautiful view of the Rockies in the distance didn't hurt either. It was great that you could step out the door and be in downtown Boulder in 10 minutes too. The area is gorgeous, and the restaurants and bars were some of the best I've seen in a while! Susan herself is incredibly warm and accommodating. I was really impressed with everything that she did to make us comfortable - she definitely has the touch! She tells you to make yourself at home, and it's easily done- she's made her home feel like one you could have grown up in. It felt like I was visiting family. On a last note- the fresh eggs were great! If you ask, Susan will let you collect them with her. :) Thanks again, Susaan! Matt and Sarah (and John and Addy!)

 Magical!!!, December 17, 2007
By Frank (Denver, CO - USA)
While driving up the long driveway and as the 6 acres unfolded with the rustic quiet log cabin coming in site I thought I had found an oasis of tranquility. The place reminded me of hidden rustic Austrian charm. As I got out of the car in the cool fall evening my senses were greeted with the smell of a hearty fire being stoked up in the huge stone wood fireplace. The view of the Front Range and Rocky Mountains are incredible. I was greeted by Susan at the porch with a sincere warmth that enveloped the entire log cabin. I knew instantly that my time here would be etched down in memory and a place I have since visited many times. If you long to experience a way of life that has since long been forgotten, this secluded ranch cabin is the antidote to revive all your senses and experience first hand a little bit of paradise. Highly recommended! - Thank you Susan for all your incredible organic home cooked meals. Your place is magical!
