Description of the Bracciano vacation cottage rental

Self-catering accommodation with private swimming pool, marvelous view overlooking the lake, elegant flowered garden. Steps to the lake and centre village with local train to centre Rome. Car suggested but not necessary.
The cottage is an open space room of 1000 sq.ft, ideal for relaxing holidays and for a base with daily trip to Rome. Conveniently located just 5' walk both from the lake and the historic village of Bracciano with the railway station (local train to Rome every 30').

The cottage is composed by a double bed area, or 2 separate twin beds, a comfortable sofa-double bed, a kitchen corner fully equipped with sink, refrigerator, freezer, cook stove with oven, table and sitting for 4. The bathroom has large brick shower cabin and hair dryer. Central independent heating with radiator and/or cast iron woodstove with oven (wood available for free). Satellite TV and radio, free internet ADSL, iron with ironing board, washing machine, baby cot and high chair.
Outside: Pizza oven and barbecue under the patio in the garden (40.000 sq.ft), sun beds and sitting area around the pool (10x5 meters), parking. The owners, who live in the main adjacent villa, speak English and are available to help and advise.

The Cottage is situated 40 minutes North of centre Rome and you can get there easily both with your own car and local train.

Area Description

The regional park of the lakes Bracciano and Martignano offers lovely beaches in a delightful and sunny location, with the pretty villages of Bracciano, Trevignano and Anguillara Sabazia (looks like a crib on the lake), each one easy to reach by paths or by car and bus. The lake, forbidden to the motors, and water reserve of the aqueduct of Rome, is also wellknown for the princes the Orsini-Odescalchi majestic Castle, which is privately owned, but open to the public for guided tours. Around the lake is also possible to visit The botanical Gardens of San Liberato, designed by Russel Page for the same princes, and The Air Craft Museum. By the Mediterranea sea, only 20 Km far from Manziana, is located the Natural Reserve of Torre Flavia, with nice sunny beaches, and close the famous castle of Santa Severa.
In the nearby, the thermal centres of Stigliano and Viterbo, offer round year, baths of sulfurous 37 degrees water.
Archaeology: There are numerous Etruscan excavations, like Tarquinia (frescoed necropilis), Cerveteri (by the sea), Barbarano Romano, Veio, Sutri’s Ancient city and Etruscn-Roman amphitheater (15 km) to name but a few, all within easy distance, and of course, ROME !

The cottage was perfect for our needs...really not a B&B, as breakfast was not provided, but we had adequate cooking facilities..grocery stores were walking distance as was the town, the castle, public transportation and the lake. The cottage was immaculately clean, we had satellite t.v., many stations in English. A lovely swimming pool was only steps outside the cottage door and the view from our front door overlooked the country side and the lake..at night we could see the twinkling lights from two small villages on the opposite side of the lake. It was quiet, good sleeping. Our hostess Fiore and her two loving dogs provided warmth and hospitality which were outstanding. Fiore speaks good English (the dogs don't), and she was helpful and accommodationg in planning day trips and recommending places of interest. The local castle is fascinating and there are daily tours available. Shopping and eating was plentiful and good. We did not have a car, but for some people it would be helpful in getting around to the various, and plentiful points of interest. Even to go into town, if you are not in good shape, it's an up-hill hike, and coming back at night, when on foot can be daunting. Driving in Italy overwhelms us, but next time we will have a car for the convenience.
